Thanks for your suggestions! I made some almond crackers last night using a recipe I already had - they satisfy that 'crunch' craving and i just put some cream cheese on them.

I'm going to try the Kale Chips - I love salt and vinegar!

Had a rough day - took our older dog to the vet - he is very ill with an infection - has a HUGE abscess under his ear, she is keeping him to lance it and stitch a drain in. I felt awful seeing his little butt walking away from me. He's a rescue and has been ill for over 2 years since we've had him. He's had some great times, where he seemed really good, but we've battled this infection the whole time. So, I thought over the foods that I could console myself with on the drive home, but came home and a BBQing chicken breasts to toss on a big salad.
I find if I have food in the fridge I will grab it instead of the box of Ritz crackers in the cupboard.
Talking our younger dog out for a walk again today - trying to do it every day. The unseasonably warm weather is really helping with my motivation!
Thanks again - I need the support!!

Awe, that bites about your older dog Hope the work from the vet helps! It is warm here too! Just finished rearranging my living room while my kid is out for the afternoon. BBQ chicken and salad sounds delicious!

Amarillo? Isn't it warm there all the time, lol?

I made the kale chips - Oh. My. God. They actually kind of taste like potato chips!! I really liked them!

Day 7 now and been ok with the "cheating". Getting my younger dog out for a hike. It's sunny and warm so I am more motivated. Missed yesterday but have been pretty consistent all last week.

I have discovered the Kale chips aren't great the next day - they got all soggy and kinda chewy. I stored them in a ziploc bag -could that have something to do with it?

No exercise today, but plan to get the dog out this evening. Fought with hubby last night and I left, and reviewed all the food I could eat to comfort myself, but instead went to a local casino (I know BAD!) and won $1600, went home a few hours later and had some bacon and a couple of slices of cheese, then went to bed. I was VERY proud I didn't give into the emotional eating temptation.

Thoughts on bologna? Probably bad because it's processed, but MAN I love it. Not regular bologna, but what I call "veal" bologna, it's called "Lyoner sausage" here in Canada.

I slept better last night than I have in a long time - not sure if it's coincidence or a true change. God, I hope so, being awake every night for a few hours is killer the next day.

    B: 2 eggs, 2 bacon, coffee, cream/stevia
L: leftover chicken in a lettuce salad with some almonds/pumpkin seeds/home made Ranch dressing
D: Not sure - possibly chicken/bok choy stir fry, kinda tired of salads

I wish someone would TELL me what to make for dinner - I'm happy to do it, just the figuring out WHAT to eat part. I might try the Leptin reset. I would just have to up the protein at breakfast and stop snacking between meals, which I think is more habit than anything else. I want to do more research.

More beautiful, very unseasonable weather - we're breaking records left and right, but I am enjoying wearing sandals and t-shirts, however reminds me summer is around the corner with skimpier clothing and I need to get some weight off!

Yes, it's really warm here during the summer, but it gets rather chilly during the winter, especially with the wind. I'm sure it doesn't get as cold as it does for you though

Yesterday was HORRIFIC day - although all that I ate was PB friendly - I ate a LOT - a LOT of cheese, steak and onions for dinner, then almond "crackers" with more cheese on them. It was cheese day apparently.

Mood was terrible was also very tired; didn't get any exercise and slept like crap - had night sweats (likely menopause) and also pouding/anxiety heart, so that kept me awake quite a bit.

    Altogether a sh*tty day.

Today I feel like crap - am late getting ready for work, because I don't really feel like getting ready. Or going for that matter.

Stomach upset - but that's not a shocker with what I ate yesterday. Going to make some ginger tea and see if that helps.

    Headache too.

    Cranky.....

Been away for a while - eating chips...........

Most of my spare time has been spent driving the dog to vet appointments and working. Slipped back into eating junk food, so while I didn't gain, I didn't lose. Obviously. I had hoped to lose 5lbs by mid-April, but i don't think that's going to happen. My birthday is this weekend and then Easter means more temptations.

It's frustrating because I have maybe 3 pairs of pants that aren't very tight on me and can't seem to find another couple of pairs to tide me over. So, unless I'm in yoga pants or pj pants I am uncomfortable. Only got out once for a walk this week. Am hoping to get out tomorrow, but weather might not cooperate. After record high temps last week, we are expecting snow tomorrow. Weirdest Spring EVER!

Any other suggestions for night time snacks would be appreciated; I am using lunch meat and/or bacon, the occasional tablespoon of peanut butter, but it's really the crisp thing I crave.

Using homeopathy for my high blood pressure. Dr. wants to put me on a third medication, but I didn't fill it and instead am trying some homeopathics. So far they're not working, but I'm persisting. May add another one - if I see my dr before I get it under control he's going to give me major s*it for not taking the 3rd med. Little does he know I no longer take the diuretic either!

Sleep is a real issue for me - I'm awake every night sometimes for hours - probably clearing maybe 5-6 hours. No issue falling asleep, but staying asleep, is horrific. Might also be hormones and I'm peri-menopausal. Yay.

Birthday on the weekend, let it go, had some junk food and some cake. Stuck to primal at dinner, but had a piece of cake afterwards.
Not really exercising, not sleeping, so tired all the time, not really motivated. Today is nice and sunny, so might force myself out, but it's also quite chilly. Lat time I went out, it was FREEZING and we lasted only about 15 minutes before I turned back.
Taking a supplement for my restless legs syndrome, but because it's a combination of several types of magnesium has given me the "runs". I'm actually hoping it will have helped me lose some weight, lol.

Hey Siouxzee! Happy birthday for the weekend! Sounds like you are going through quite a time at the moment. In fact you sound like I did a couple months ago! I can recommend the leptin reset highly. I have been eating a large protein breakfast and then most of the time I am not really hungry at lunch and I find my desire for snacks and munchies has vanished. It really helps to clear out all the crap from your house so that when the munchies do strike you have nothing else to eat but something healthy. I rave all the time about how I can't believe that my cravings are gone as I have struggled with cravings as long as I remember. SInce I have been eating fully primal (leptin reset) the weight has dropped off without any effort on my part. I have lost about 20 pounds since starting on Feb 13th this year. I still have about 70 pounds to go - BUT I feel SSOOOOO much better. The constant exhaustion and lack of motivation has lifted with the change in diet. And it helps so much when your clothes fit better! I can so relate to feeling awful about yourself, I absolutely hate being crammed into tight clothing. Why don't you take the plunge and be extreme for a few weeks (21 days) and see how things change for you You will be pleasantly surprised at the improvements.

Just remember that exercise is not everything, it is obviously really important to move etc but your fuel determines how your body reacts. Your body is used to burning carbs - the leptin reset will get it back to burning fat. Once you're doing that a lot of other things fall into place without much effort. Be brave and cut out all the carbs except what you get through the low carb veggies... you will feel crappy for a while but the results are awesome. I will keep watching and cheering you on! We all need each other and I am only a few weeks further down the road than you! Hang in there!

I really hope the stuff with your dog is resolved soon - poor thing to go through so much! And it is so hard to see a creature you care for suffering like that. Have you tried boosting his immunity with plain full fat kefir and other doggy type health food? Just a thought...

    Hi Coll,
Thanks for the encouragement - I don't quite understand the leptin reset, other than eating more protein earlier in the day and then perhaps not eating lunch, but eating dinner? Snacks are easy to miss, I usually carry almonds because I find that safer than being tempted by something totally non-Primal.
I did get out and walk the dog and felt better for it.
My dog has been left at the vet's so that his wound can be open and heal without him dropping pus all over our house. It's been a very long process, and still not over. He has an MRSA - we feed him a raw diet and the vet has suggested some immune boosting supplements.
I've done "low carb" on and off for many years. While I found it was the ONLY way I ever lost weight, I certainly never lost more than 3-4lbs over a few months. However, I do drink diet Pepsi, daily, 2-3 and also drink alcohol weekly. So, I am sure that is holding me back as well.
Thanks for the advice - I don't want to have to buy all new clothes for this summer!!! The support on this Forum has been so helpful!!
