New Research 3 min HITT a week only to be fit

    Primal Fuel
BBC News - Can three minutes of exercise a week help make you fit?

An interesting study in some ways not sure I buy all of it.

I don't think I could go through life only doing 3 min a week but it does support Mark's proposal of sprinting once a week as part of his PB. Add in the move slowly and some lifting and you are good to go.

I see it as further evidence that HIIT is very effective. I've been wondering lately what the actual number of all out intervals required in each session really is? I know some do 6, some 8, some 10 or 12. Could it be possible that only a few intervals, perhaps done a little more often could be just as effective if not more and maybe safer as well. For now I do 6-8 intervals about once a week. I haven't felt this good in a long long time. It has most definitely improved my cardio conditioning. Just my breathing while at rest is noticeably easier.

I agree with HIIT, I still like the tabita training but mix up my intervals depending on where I am. Telephone pole to telephone pole, hills...what ever suits.

I agree with your approach Dirlot. Doing the same workout every time can get boring and is impractical. The nice thing is that you can pretty much find a place to do sprints anywhere. If the weather is really bad an exercise bike, eliptical or a treadmill will do the job. Swimming is also very effective and it works many muscles.
