    Thanks for the ideas Sabine

Well, I got a new scale yesterday. There is a difference of 4 pounds between the new and old one - and the new, fancy one shows that I am 188.8 pounds!! I am below 190 and didn't know it ... it feels almost as though I cheated lol. So starting over with a new scale, kind of exciting now that I know I am going to get a more detailed measurement (the old scale only measured in half pounds) and now my new goal is 185 lbs before New Years Eve. We'll see how that goes.

TMI warning. I don't know why but the pipes are somewhat clogged lately. I have been eating way more veg than I used to, drinking plenty, no action. Might just take a fibre product today just to get things moving ... could lose a few pounds with no effort there!!! TMI ended

I ate pretty well yesterday again, went to a presentation in the afternoon where there were treats and the kids and I turned them all down. I had brought snacks in the car for the kids and they chowed down on cheese, apple and a piece of chocolate on the way home. I am so proud of them, they really own the whole primal way of eating. They used to complain, but have since had nasty experiences with grains and are totally sold on not eating grains now. I don't really need to convince them - just inform them of what has grains in and sugar too. DS got the 'flu last year shortly after eating some candy - he was really sick with horrible fevers etc. He associates getting the 'flu with eating sugar now, not a bad thing really. So he always questions me as to whether things have bad sugar in them. I think they are pretty amazing for a 6 and just turned 10 year old!! I know I am biased

Busy, busy day getting ready for the party tomorrow. No school and lots of baking, tidying, cleaning etc. DH and I are going to rack our wine and mead tonight, kind of exciting I must say as we get to taste how they are getting along, and the process is moving along too.

Bit of whine here - our shower is not working properly... couldn't understand why we had to hurry through the shower so that the other person could still have hot water. The hot water heater is ancient, the shower leaks hot water straight down the drain and the paint on the shower walls is peeling off - really nasty. It is always this toss up on whether to clean or not. I have had enough and am going to talk to the landlord. I am tired of us paying a lot of money for a crappy old trailer that has issues. It has taken me a long time (not sure why) to put all the pieces together - we are paying for hot water to run straight down the drain!

I think we are still not used to renting ... so different from owning your own place. You don't want to bother the landlord unnecessarily, but if it was your own home you would just fix it right away... DH has replaced the faucet in the kitchen, we have put shop lights up in the classroom area (no light at all in that room) and the kitchen. The kitchen light was so bad that I would go to turn it on only to find that it was already on! We'll just take those down when we leave. So nice to be out of the 'cave' especially with lots of grey days now and indoor days. The kids were so sleepy in the classroom from the lack of light before...

Greek yogurt makes a nice base for dips. Add salt and garlic powder, onion powder, and whatever other herb or spice tickles your fancy. No, I never measure.

So nice about the new scale. I am quite sure that if I got a new one, it would do the precise opposite, so I'm not in too much of a hurry, LOL!

Thanks Judg, going to try that and see, I am sure I will eat it even if no-one else does. Extended family are pretty picky in the wrong direction ... they all eat loads of CW and drink pop and beer etc like it is going out of fashion. I am sure there will be some who don't appreciate the 'healthy' food - not that I will be advertising the fact that they will be eating lots of protein and fat and very little carbs And not a grain in sight! Horror of horrors!

They will probably be too busy appreciating the deliciousness of what they're eating to miss the other stuff. I have a bakery across the street, so anybody who is desperate can go pick up whatever they like. LOL!

Today, I skipped breakfast as usual. Had black tea with cream and stevia. Lunch was bratwurst, sauerkraut (kimchi style), olives, 1 oz parrano cheese, 1/4 pomegranate and another cup of tea. Dinner was a large bowl of cabbage and onion etc sauteed with leftover sausage and curry paste. 2 pieces of 85% chocolate. I feel as though I ate too much today, not a lot too much - but not a very hollow sensation today. We'll see what the new scale says tomorrow.

Well, the scale went down again this morning! 0.8 lbs. I like it! And I like having a scale that shows smaller increments....
So I am at 188 lbs exactly this morning. Decided to try to go with herbal teas early in the morning until I REALLY want my black tea, make it more of a treat. They had a sale on Celestial Seasonings tea at the local grocery store so I indulged and bought about 6 different teas. I had a green tea just now that was really nice, very delicate, almost floral flavour, not bitter at all. I have a bunch of new teas to try so hopefully I can wait until late morning for my first cup of black tea. I will be better hydrated too

Last night we racked our plum wine, raspberry mead and peach mead for the first time - and got to sample our wares. All definitely drinkable, distinctly alcoholic. The raspberry mead is my favourite at the moment - we'll see as they age how the flavours change. Had honey water left over after topping up the meads so decided to throw some sweet cherries in and make some more mead There is something very rewarding about the whole process, and really very simple - anyone could do it!

Baking day today, chocolate cake, orange cake and eggnog being made today. Hubby only working a half day today - yeah! No school today - though the kids will be helping with the baking and preparations and there is lots to learn in that process too.

Oh yeah, baking is great homeschooling. Reading, understanding instructions, fractions (if you're using Imperial measurements), a wee bit of chemistry and physics... Your craft fair involvement would be a great springboard for a business and math module, as well as art. (Now I'm getting nostalgic.)

I noticed the lower number on your signature. Congrats!

So horrified at the shooting in Connecticut! Such evil to be perpetrated on little ones and their guardians!!!!! Sick to my stomach with grief and heartbroken for the survivors and loved ones dealing with the aftermath. Both our kids are elementary age and I can't imagine how anyone can bring themselves to shoot those innocent and precious little people ....

I had a couple kind of crazy days - just couldn't focus after the shooting in Conn. Flopped my baking on every front, clumsy, and unmotivated to do what needed to be done. Had one uncle and one aunt come to the kids birthday party - they had fun though they were sad that no-one else came. Reality can be pretty tough sometimes. DH is the youngest of 8 kids (now 7) and we are so different that there is no real connection with them. Haven't been here long enough to make any friends for the kids ... and there was no way I was inviting the landlords kids (party is supposed to be fun) But, we are just starting to make some friends and the kids are thrilled - we'll be visiting on Monday afternoon for a play date. They have a small farm so there are bound to be some similarities ... looking forward to finding out more about them.

My weight came up by a 0.2 again - so sitting at 188.4 lbs which really isn't bad considering how scattered I have been the last few days and a party yesterday. I had a slice of the primal chocolate cake, and we had fun cracking pecans and eating them - definitely the way to eat nuts! Slows you down so you can't inhale handfuls of the stuff. My fingers get sore before I can get too many in I made the Greek yoghurt dip with some veggies and DH and I enjoyed that.

So nice to have another day with hubby and the family all together. Going to visit BIL who had the double knee replacement this afternoon. May just take him some primal cake ... I know the kids are dying to see him now that he is doing better. DH and I had a really nice chat last night about our goals for the next while - so good to feel that we are on the same page and pulling in the same direction.

After all the busyness and celebrations over the last couple of days I have regained a pound ... not too worried. Just going to eat one meal today ... pot roast this evening. Not really hungry now anyway... sure sign to hold off for a bit. Going to stick to two cups of tea with cream and the rest will be herbal tea today. Might get a lot of liquids today
