Yup Judg, I think I am going to go for that. I do find the veggies fill me up nicely - esp when combined with some fat. I particularly like carrots with cream cheese .... Bar of chocolate down the hatch today, but otherwise pretty good. Just really tired today for some reason.

Stunning sunset on the way home from town today. Stopped and the kids and I oohed and aahed over the rainbows in the clouds while I took loads of pics. I have never seen that kind of light before - just stunning!!! Of course it doesn't show up as clearly in the pics but ...

We are just having the most gorgeous sunrises and sunsets at the moment. This morning I was out with tripod and camera while still in PJ's (26F Brrrr) getting pics of the sunrise. Just too good to pass.

Ok, so today I am starting over again! I have some lovely flannel pj's that I slept in last night for the first time - so cozy. But once they get washed they are going to shrink and then I am afraid they are going to be too tight for sleeping comfortably. SO, I have a very immediate goal ... this week I want to get really focused and be intentional about what goes into my mouth so that I can keep on wearing my snuggly pj's IF I get the munchies (which has been the case pretty much every day this week!!!) THEN I am going to be stuffing my face with veggies and a bit of fat. Going to pick up some guacamole too so that I have variety on the fat side of things. I am thinking of making kale chips at lunch - got two bunches of kale just begging to be baked. The kids will be thrilled and so will my tummy. I made a really good ground beef stew last night that we ate on cauliflower rice - mmmm. DH had it for breakfast today and I think I will make that the rest of my lunch. No breakfast for me - I really do seem to get into eating mode if I eat breakfast when I am not particularly hungry. Just sets the tone for the day then - eat whether hungry or not. NOT good!

BIL is having a double knee replacement done today!! Not at all interested in primal - but I suspect that the early deterioration of his cartilage (despite the injuries he suffered playing sports) can be linked to a grain issue and high sugar intake. Oh well, all we can do is keep on being healthy and happy and hope that eventually he may become interested in primal. His wife is but she is a life long dieter and I think he is immune to all the different things she gets excited about as there have been so many over the years. If I could just keep my butt moving in the right direction I think that would speak louder than all my words or anyone elses. I have been very overweight for most of the time my in-laws have known me, and even at my slimmest I was about 30 pounds overweight. I 'carry' my weight well (whatever that means!!) so people are always astounded at how heavy I actually am. But it doesn't change the fact that if I could get closer to my goals it would certainly attract some good attention for the primal lifestyle. One of my brothers is VERY overweight and unhealthy - been through a horrific few years with a witch of a wife and now an ugly divorce and all the accompanying trauma of not seeing his kids all the time etc. I think he is just miserable but not willing to do anything yet to change. Another one I am hoping to impact over time ... always up to them of course, just want them to have a living, breathing example that it can be done. But I got to do it first huh!!! So here's where the rubber hits the road once again! Big breath - into the day I go, ready to conquer my appetites and bad habits. Hopefully I make it through standing today. WOW!!!! Those are amazing pictures! So absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Keep the big girl panties hiked up. I struggle with the family issues too and feel that I need to lead by example, but it's not going so well right now either. Maybe wear smaller panties? Could the tightness be a reminder to keep the mouth tightened down? It would probably just be really annoying. Oh well. Keep at it! You've made such great progress so far!

Thanks Kim Yes, I have thought of wearing smaller clothes - but pity the people who are near me through the day because tight clothing turns me into Mrs Grumpy pants!! Maybe a clothes peg on my ear hee hee. Thanks for the encouragement ...

OK, lol, hearing about the various versions that people are committing to for the next how ever many days made me think of one for me... Furiously Focused Fourteen! I am going to do without any sugar at all (stevia only), low carb - under 50gms, LOTS of veggies, NO snacking, probably mostly no breakfasts too unless I find myself truly hungry in the morning. Starting tomorrow... (I have been pretty good today so far - aside from the final piece of chocolate bar that was my 'dessert' at lunch time)

Today, tea with cream and stevia. Lunch leftover ground beef stew on cauliflower rice and about 9 pieces of chocolate. It was actually painful saying that last one Wish it hurt more actually!

9 pieces is not going to make it easy to get to your goal. It sounds like you need some kind of technique for dealing with chocolate.

Those were absolutely gorgeous sunrise pictures!

What temperature do you make your kale chips at?

9 pieces of chocolate is definitely not helpful - however it is fractionally better than a whole bar of chocolate which I have been putting away in spurts the last while!! I definitely need a chocolate technique .... I find that if I don't have any at all that is less than 70% cocoa then I do fine and can enjoy it without gorging myself. As soon as I have the 'milkier' and sweeter chocolates I can down a whole bar without thinking and be looking for more. I really think it is the sugar and cocoa combination that is so very addictive. So for my 'Furiously Focused Fourteen' (FFF) I will eschew all chocolate, except for the occasional piece of 85% chocolate. This does not trigger any issues so I feel safe allowing that.

My kale chips (which are on hold for tomorrow since DH is working late) I do at 350 F. I rinse, shake dry, tear into bite size pieces, rub with a small amount of olive oil, sprinkle with seasonings, bake for 12 minutes (high altitude here) and then stir and return to the oven for another 2 -3 minutes. If they are not quite crisp enough I will return them for a short while. It depends on a lot of things (including how young the kale is) Baby kale leaves are too soft and don't work well. I prefer the green kale with the frilly edges. It has enough texture to hold the leaf off the baking tray so it dries out better. Just my personal preferences there - and we can flatten a couple of bunches of kale with no trouble at all.
