That was a good nights sleep indeed. Feel great this morning, even my finger has shut up and doesn't complain unless I touch it. Lost 5 pounds of water weight yesterday! Feel like a new person as a result. Going to IF this morning (sort of, still having a cup of tea) and see if I can get back on track with my carbs and other macros. Fitday has not seen much of me lately and the scale shows it too. 192.5 this morning. Hoping to go shopping on my own this afternoon - always a treat when you are a stay at home mom. I always feel as though I am on a mini-vacation when I am wandering around on my own. About once a week sometimes longer - don't get me wrong. I love being home with my kids, just need a break once in a while. I crank the music in the car, stop where and when I want to, don't have to do potty breaks and find snacks for hungry kids. I can browse at the library without kids complaining they are bored or tired or hungry etc

Having a bit of a hard time typing with a sore finger. Had fried onion, garlic, zucchini, and cabbage with fried eggs on top. Yum.

You sound so Italian. MIL poaches eggs on top of her zucchini-tomato concoctions. Yum indeed.

Lol! I love the quote at the bottom of your signature Judg. That is probably my biggest downfall, inconsistency. I really need to get established in better habits. Like always including veg with my meals, keep snacking to a minimum, plan ahead for meals especially lunch as that is when I often fall down, getting enough sleep and early enough sleep, being sure to move enough - every day or as close as possible.

Today was a much better day. Started out spending time talking with God and getting my focus straightened out again. I always find so much peace and focus in time with God, without it I get lost in the busyness of the day and things tend to fall apart more. Having stew and berries with cream for dinner. And an early night again I hope

Wow, tanning your own leather, I wouldn't even know where to start (and let's not even mention I don't know anyone who could provide me with the skin )!
    And what beautiful pictures, Coll!

Thanks Candy, we will see how the tanning goes... DH has found the names of a few people relatively close by who can teach how to brain tan leather. So there will at least be someone he can call and ask questions if needed. There is a butcher just around the corner who has a whole heap of hides in a trash can that you can buy for $3 each. We got about 20# of meat and fat cut off that the dog is thoroughly enjoying. She is in doggy heaven I couldn't afford to provide her with raw meat - esp. meat that is so good for her. The elk hides that we were given are a mess of cuts and I have my doubts as to the wisdom of even trying to tan those. Such a pity as they would have been lovely otherwise. DH can't quite bring himself to throw them away yet - but I think that once he has a little experience under his belt with the other nicer skins I think he will have no trouble throwing them away. We'll see...

My finger is healing amazingly fast - I do think that this lifestyle lends itself to quicker recovery from injuries. Then I started thinking about the people I nursed in ICU with huge injuries, especially the burn victims. I was remembering the food that they were given and I totally cringe now. No wonder they struggled with secondary infections and just hated the food - ensure at every turn. They need incredibly high caloric intake to help their body heal such large areas, but since fat is a no no in medical circles, they get a LOT of sugar. I was wondering how it would be if those patients had been fed a high quality high fat, high protein diet loaded with vegetables too. Would they have had weeks cut off their recovery time, less infections, less scarring... ? If anyone in our family ever had the misfortune of being burned they would definetly not be eating the hospitals version of food - for that matter, if we ever land in the hospital, no matter what the cause, there will be food coming in from outside for my family to eat.

Poor DH had caved the other day and ate a cinnamon roll - he felt so bad for ages. He has been flirting with grains for a while though we never have them at home. Once in a while he picks up something grain based while out working but this time he really reacted. I am hoping it got his attention enough to help him kick the grains totally. I think there are a lot of emotional ties to grains for him. I have never been a huge fan of grains so that has been easy for me to give up. Sugar is hard for me. If I don't have it I am fine, but let a morsel pass over my lips and I immediately want more, lots more!

I think I am going to try a rerun on the veggies with eggs this morning, but slather it with curry paste for a different flavour. We'll have to see what the taste buds say... About a week ago I was up to 197 lbs again.. today I am at 191.5 for the second day in a row. Whew! Feeling a bit better again and ready to take on the fat rolls again. I have about ten days to try and lose enough fat to get firmly into the 180's. IF I keep my focus it is 'doable'.

Oh yes, two or three pounds off in ten days is very doable. Then rest and consolidate. I am firmly convinced that those consolidation periods are what makes weight loss last. That's when we reset our bodies, and learn to eat properly as a lifestyle. And it's not going to stay off if we don't do those two things.

Oh Judg, it may be doable if I can only get my head and heart and mouth all moving in the same direction! I am just having a hard time getting myself settled into eating 'right'! Another bar of chocolate down today.... I am just feeling stuck at the moment. Can't figure out how to get myself going again. I have been at the 'same' weight for months and months now. It is very disheartening. I know I am eating too much, not enough exercise, not enough sleep etc. But how to change the way I am doing things. It would be so awesome to have someone here that was in this whole journey with me. But, while DH is 'on board' he is so absorbed in surviving the start of a business that he doesn't have the time or energy to learn this stuff and be able to cheer me on or encourage me. It is me trying to encourage him and I am feeling as though I am out of energy at this time. I mean, I know that in some ways things are going well.... we are all off grains and the kids seem to be doing well in many ways. But I am still at least 45+ pounds overweight and I am so wanting to get rid of that. But not enough to give up the chocolate it seems. Sometimes it just feels very lonely trying to do this - especially when I am not getting anywhere fast! I do agree with the rest and consolidate thing - I just need to lose some fat first! Anyway, enough whining for tonight. Going to clean up and head for bed. Sorry about the negativity... I really am very grateful to be 35 pounds lighter than I was - sooo much better. Thank you God! Now I just need help getting rid of the next chunk of fat and learning the better habits and kicking the old ones that keep me tied down to this point.
