I had their Crab Cakes Benedict a couple of times last year (sans English Muffin), when they opened a restaurant near us. Lovely. But I found their sausages to be a little suspect. Some kind of filler that set off cravings for me, perhaps. Or seasonings.

So glad you are feeling better. I'm waiting on pins and needles for the canyon and ice pictures. It's still strangely dry here in Washington. It is so odd. We should be having our usual rain, but it's not happening. If you have extra snow or extra rain, please send some this way. Plants are behaving oddly. Neighbor has this huge tree that changes color and looks like fire. This year, it's just sort of turned brown, and the leaves just fell without the beautiful oranges and reds and yellow. Nothing seems to be changing color in gorgeous ways. The ground is totally dry, and the typical Washington everygreens look funny coming up out of the deserty ground. Fires abound. We don't usually have that problem!

So, rain would be welcome. It's also really hot and windy -- well, Washington hot. It should be vest and sweater weather!

Have a great ton with kids and DH. Is that what your DH does, inspect for radon? We get build ups in basements up here.

It is good to see you around again Pam Sabine, I enjoyed the food, sort of... It was fun to eat some potato though I am sure it was probably fried in something I don't want to know about. And I didn't feel bad after eating it which is a nice plus. It was supposed to be a Texas skillet - ie. strips of steak, 2 eggs, fried bell pepper and onion with cheese over a bed (king size!) of potatoe (cut in squares and fried) Well, to my way of thinking the Texans would have been embarrassed at the dearth of steak - a few mouthfuls at best. I had some homemade trail mix on the way home, a piece of fruit rollup (homemade) and some chocolate when we walked in the door, some homemade icecream, about 6 pieces of thick uncured bacon, a bowl of berries and cream and my usual cup of tea with cream and stevia. Oh and a bunch of delicious cheeses and sliced apple that we ate in the car. I try to take something nice when travelling or the stuff at the convenience stores starts to look too good to the family. So we had applewood smoked cheddar, red wax gouda, paranno, grass fed medium cheddar too all beautifully combined with organic gala and golden delicious apple pieces. There is a fun little box in the cheese section of King Soopers where they put small chunks of fancy cheeses that go for less than $5. I know it is still expensive but every now and again we splurge and get a few of the chunks. We never eat out (at most once every couple of months) so I figure that the special cheese is our little extravagance now and again.

And Pam, I have downloaded the pictures - there are so many nice ones to pick from that I am going to get all stressed trying to figure out which ones to share here (kidding!) I also put a pic of the step I built for fun... The pics of the ice and frost just don't do justice to how exquisite it was though - steam rising everywhere as the sun warmed everything making it like a fairy world, the sound of tinkling ice as it lost it's grip and splintered its way to the ground encouraging others to join it in its flight...

What fantastic pictures, and I love seeing your step. You are way high up, I can tell. Well, it's hard not to be, I imagine, since you're in Colorado.

I've been to Colorado a few times (didn't care for Denver, but loved the country outside of Boulder), and once I was out in the middle of nowhere -- on horseback, it seems to me -- and saw a condor. That was one of the most incredible experiences. I mean it was up in the air and still huge beyond belief.

I keep thinking I should turn the heater on hearing your lovely Colorado stories.

Wow! Gorgeous! Those pics remind me of the most memorable hike I ever had the pleasure of taking. I was on holiday at the Kripalu Center in the Berkshires (Massachusetts) in October when it snowed quite early. The beautiful fall colors were in full swing, and we drove up the mountain in a blaze of colors dusted in snow - unbelievably beautiful. Several people took pictures but none of them did justice to the beauty. We were literally walking into trees on our way down the mountain because we were so distracted by the stunning surroundings. By the time we finished our hike all the snow had melted in the warm sunshine. The ephemeral nature of such loveliness makes it all the more moving -

Oh, very nice! I don't envy you the cool temps though. I got chilly today and moved the thermostat up to 68... LOL! And cheerfully washed dishes, just to get my hands in hot water. Garlic. Oh rats. I wish I had thought of that in time. *sniffle*

Translator Son and DIL got their chickens this week. Ten egg-layers. (Don't ask me the breed. Those rusty red ones.) GS was very proud to show them to me. I hope I get some organic eggs out of this venture...

Well, it has not been a particularly good week. Crazy hormones and lots of carbs, bad sleep and not feeling great. Still haven't kicked the cold that hasn't really gotten a hold of me. Slightly sore throat most days. I am trying to regroup today and get my butt back on the wagon. Have gained a number of pounds this week, am trusting that they will come off as fast as they went on. Sigh, just haven't felt myself this week. I am going to log all my food again to help me settle in to the rhythm again.
