    Lost weekend

    Primal Fuel
What I thought was allergies, turned out to be a cold. Lost the details of yesterday in the fog. Today I have been drinking tea and electrolyte water and resting. I have to go in for jury selection tomorrow, and I need to be somewhat upright. There has been a little eating going on, but not much. Just typing this while I wait for my soup to heat up. Canned tomatoes + cream cheese, blended together. Divine. There were greens earlier, and I believe there will be a pear just before bedtime. Also, a detox bath.

Oh dear. I hope yours goes away faster than mine has.

I'm impressed by your food logs. You are doing really well.

    A simple post

One thing about being sick, it makes the daily log short!

    Yesterday:

    Up at 9:30
    Weight:207.0

    1:30 2C swiss chard-cabbage gratin

    5:30 2C tomato-cream cheese soup

    9:00 small bosc pear

    Walking: NONE
    Water: 13+ glasses
    Hours in bed: ALL

    Bed at 11:00

I'm still congested this morning, and tired, but it is easier to be upright and walking around, and I managed to get myself dressed in the normal span. A success.

Here's my present dilemma, though. Along with the 'no knitting needles' directions on my summons, there is a 'no food or drink'. That was going to be bothersome(I like my water) but I figured I could go over to the drinking fountain as required. Well, now I NEED my hydration! 'As required' might be every ten minutes. Guess I will just have to play it by ear.

    Off I go!

I was always curious as I noticed the change recently... why all of the water?

Yesterday, all the liquid was because I am sick, and want to stay well hydrated. I think I reached about 20 glasses with water and tea combined. But in general, I feel much better when I drink at least 10-12 glasses of water throughout the day.

    Civics lesson

I wasn't chosen for the jury(I was prospective juror #50, so the odds were against it.) but I did learn some stuff: What the legal definition of 'reasonable' is; there isn't one- everyone gets to decide for themselves. That assault by cutting off breathing or circulation is a felony in Texas, instead of a misdemeanor. It was interesting. I think I will probably look up the trial after it is over, to see what they decided, and what evidence was presented. I was surprised by the number of people who felt they could NOT consider either the maximum or minimum sentence options, should the defendant be found guilty. Four for one side, five for the other. I believe none of them were chosen, which seems right, but I did cynically wonder if any of it was done to get out of serving.

Survived the knitting prohibition doing by kumihimo. I think it might become a key chain.

Now I'm rehydrating(no liquids allowed in the courthouse), and getting ready to do dishes. After I get Middlest. And pick up some protein powder for Honey. And start dinner. Do some bills. Give the dogs their medicine, and cut their nails. Hmmm. Somewhere in there I will try to keep resting. The bosc pear last night was delicious. I might make a salad with pear in it tonight. We have some gorgonzola left, and I think the combination would be fantastic.

I had the detox bath last night, but did not have the same sweating results. I had used fresh ginger, instead of powdered. Wonder if that affected it, or it was just chance. Or maybe to do with already being sick.

Getting chatty again - I must be feeling better

Feeling much better this morning. I'm still clogged, but I have moved past the 'fighting it off with every bit of strength in my body' phase, and now seem to have some energy for moving around and thinking. (It is a good thing I WASN'T chosen for the jury yesterday!)

    Here's how it went down:

    Up at 6:00
    Weight: 205.5

    1:30 2C chard-cabbage gratin
    1 square dark chocolate

    6:30 2 chicken thighs with
    barbeque sauce
    mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes
    2 cotlets(17gC)

Walking: none, but that's okay, I was still taking it easy
    Water: 11 glasses

    Bed at 8:00

The cotlets were a family dessert. I found small box of them at the .99store and indulged. We each got two, and though there were more left, I wasn't tempted, because I knew they were ear-marked for another dinner's dessert.

My Honey did the dishes for me last night. So nice.

I was blown away by all the great ideas in the comment section of yesterday's blog post. Makes me hungry for breakfast even though I'm not hungry. Luckily, it is impossible to eat fifty kinds of eggs all at once. I do think I will try making eggs cooked shakshuka style in a bed of chard gratin instead of tomatoes, next time I make the gratin. Which will be Sunday, for the girl scout pot luck. I will make a double batch.

This rat/mouse/super-critter we are battling has skills. Had itself a nice feast off the bait on the glue traps without getting stuck. Also finished off the last of the protein powder in Honey's stash by his desk. We thought we had it this morning, but, no. I am starting to develop some respect for it, but I still want it OUT OF MY HOUSE! Dead or alive, its choice, but it will happen!

I can sympathise with you and your critter! It seems every house we have lived in for the last number of years has had a whole separate population living out of sight, leaving poop and chew marks everywhere! We like using the old fashioned mousetraps baited with peanutbutter and a sunflower seed jammed in the little slot so when they pull to eat it - snap! We have never failed - though sometimes it takes a couple days to get it. Once in a while they do manage to steal the goodies without getting snapped, but usually the next night or a few hours later their game of Russian roulette is over
