    RE: Loss of muscle mass as a cause of fatigue

    Primal Fuel
    Hi everyone;

    I was reading an article today about causes of fatigue in rheumatoid arthritis (which I have). Beside the usual suspects this article mentioned that RA patients tend to lose muscle mass easily and this can worsen fatigue.

    I have lost a LOT of muscle mass - both before primal, but also since losing 50 lbs eating a primal diet, I do feel I've lost muscle as well.

    Does anyone know if this is true? Would having more muscle result in more energy? Can anyone explain to me why this would be?

    Thanks much!!

    That is easier said than done when you have a disease that means you can't use your hands to life any weights, have pain in all your joints, and feel exhausted every day.

    But, if there is reasonable mechanism why the increased muscle mass would help, the I will figure out some way to do it.

    Thanks js290, but there is a big problem with that data. More aggressive tumors are actually known to cause more muscle wasting - so I am suspect they have their "cause" and "effect" switched. But that is the kind of thing I am interested in reading for sure.
