Hi all, I'm Wonder and I'm a nerd. "Hi, Wonder..."

Games I like: World of Warcraft (not playing much lately, anyone else on Shadowsong? yes I play on a West Coast server even though I'm East Coast), The Elder Scrolls (played VI and V), Fallout (played 3 and NV), Diablo III (played the beta, looks like somewhat graphically updated Diablo II but I'm still looking forward to it), other games of these sorts. Going to check out Kingdom of Amalur.

TV/Movies: Firefly (but NOT Serenity), Castle (because Nathan Fillion!), HIMYM (because Neil Patrick Harris!), A Knight's Tale (because it's so NOT period accurate), Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (duh), Warehouse 13 (SyFy original show, fairly recent, pretty good, just started season 2)...probably tons more nerdy films, but I can't think of them right now. Oh and Doctor Who probably counts as pretty nerdy. I have only seen the most recent revival (9, 10, 11), don't like the new actor that much but feel like he finally made his own character instead of being a weird offshoot of David Tenant's Doctor. I enjoyed the first season of Torchwood, but gave up on it after that. Too much drama & whining.

Other nerdy interests: working on computers (my official title is "help desk specialist", I do technician and troubleshooting stuff primarily on computers, but also printers & servers a bit), BUILDING computers (repaired and built 2, helped a friend make a custom computer as well), learning about viruses, malware and how to remove them (seriously, love this) as well as actually removing them.

My boyfriend and I are going to PAX East for the second time in April. I am trying to determine when is a good point to ask for that Friday off so I can go all 3 days 'cause I'm also taking a vacation for most of a week mid-March. Last year, I won an awesome new graphics card and my friend won an iPad!

If forced to pick a label for myself I choose dork (that's because I have no spatial awareness and can fall over my own feet without trying). Though others would say geek - my OH does say I'm a bit like Firefly's Kaylee.
I've always been geeky/dorky - I was a big bookworm as a kid and loved playing all sorts of pc games. I still love books (sci-fi, horror, crime, manga) and I still play pc games. I've been a big sci-fi fan since I discovered The X Files way back when it started more or less ( can't believe that show is 20 years old now). Since then I've become a 'Gater (yes I even went to GateCon one year), a Firefly fan and other things.

I played for 3.5 years, pretty seriously, but not anymore. I was on Tichondrius, but your server name sounds familiar, were you in my battlegroup?

Have any of you seen Caprica? It was a Syfy spinoff of BSG that got canceled. I watched all of it but I still can't decide if I liked it or not. I do love the fact that it portrays poly and gay relationships as completely normal, so that's awesome! But the main characters (especially the main main character) are really annoying whiny teenagers, so that just kills it.

I'm also an antique glass geek, and there was a scene that briefly features an antique bowl I have. I was super excited.

(I also have additional bowls in the same pattern, in green and clear, and in two different sizes. Yes, I realize I may have a problem.)

My wife watched it, but I could not get into it for much the same reason as you. I wanted to roflstomp the main characters.

Yeah, the sound of Zoe's whiny rich girl voice pretty much makes me want to hammer nails into my skull. And her friend always has this dead-eyed expression like she's about to cry...

Fortunately, Clarice is CRAZY sexy so that made the show bearable.

She sure made Rome worth watching. Well, it was worth watching anyway, but she definitely helped.

I played WoW for years on Spinebreaker and Gul'Dan.

If you're looking for a new MMO to play, the Star Wars: The Old Republic is amazing. The way they handle story is impressive, and the PVP scenarios are very fun. I'd watched the Star Wars movies, but truth be told I didn't really get into the lore until I started playing the game.

Let me know if Kingdom of Amalur is any good... that had been on my radar as well.

I gave up WoW for grad school. My geek side has had to take a back seat to my nerd side for the last couple of years.

My WoW account is currently active but I haven't played seriously for years now and pretty much just level alts these days. I'm on Kael'thas, Stormreaver, and Exodar.

I'm also bummed out that Star Trek Online sucked. Or at least it did when it was released.
