    Vitamin D in Northwest via Sunlight. Annual schedule?

    I know it's mostly in the summer, but what month or day does it make sense to try getting any D from the sun here in Washington?

    Everyday. Even when its cloudy you are getting some sun. It might not be a lot but its always worth for a little bit. *dreams of having a sunroom*..

    No, in the winter the sun does not get high enough for any UVB rays to penetrate the atmosphere. From what I've been told...

    ALWAYS good to supplement IMO. It's just too difficult to get enough sun in most places these days unless you're running around in a loin cloth all day.

    Been thinking about the Philips Light Therapy lamps I see at costco. Mark (sisson) doesn't seem to have made a blog post on this topic (unless someone else sees one). We in the NW are hardpressed to get enough sunlight to make our vitamin D and supplements don't do a great job.

    Anyone else on this thread tried or have an opinion?

    Forget it. You need to supplement with 10,000 IU Vitamin D3 made with Olive oil, not soy oil. Get the 5,000 IU Capsules, and then get your blood tested after 3 months... $65 for at home test, and $50 at your nearest Lab Corp. Your optimum level is 70 to 100 ng/ml. Details below my sig line. Then adjust dosage as required.

    This is far too important to be playing games.

    Agree with Grizz, though I don't think the vitamin D from Soy oil is that big of deal to take. I think I remember in a post mark saying the small amounts are negligible and not a big deal. Just get what you can IMO.
