Can you guess what we did yesterday?

    1. Eat lots of animals & plants. (No insects for me, thankyouverymuch!)
    Breakfast - 3 eggs, bacon.

Lunch - deli turkey, pita chips (yak!), Greek yogurt w/ honey

Snack - 'sgettin' desperate around here - potato chips

Dinner - bunch of crap at a buffet. Mostly good eating, but a few indiscretions. Feeling overfull tonight - classic "I ate grains" post-buffet feeling. BLOOMP!

    [b]2. Move around a lot at a slow pace.[/b
    no

    3. Lift heavy things.
Regularly lifting 17lb infant and occasionally lifting 36lb 3yo during day.

    4. Run really fast once in a while.
    Goal: 1x/wk

    5. Get lots of sleep.
    7hrs. Still -2.
    30m? nap.

    6. Play.
    no

    7. Get some sunlight every day.
    Goal: 15m peak sun
    yes

    8. Avoid trauma.
    yar

    9. Avoid poisonous things.
    yar

    10. Use your mind.nope

I saw something very sad this weekend. We were in Amish country and saw field after field of corn & cows, and lovely barns and just some beautiful rural living. Then I saw fields of low, dark green crops. I asked dh to slow up - sure enough...

    It was soybeans.

I realized that ALL of the agriculture I've ever seen in the US, from the coast of South Carolina, all the way up the Appalachians to Pennsylvania - all of it is either corn or soy (or tobacco, in SC & NC).

Wow. It was really pretty mind-blowing. I've never seen any other crop grown other than in just a very big garden plot.

Mile after mile of corn - I pointed it out to the kids, and that we'd seen no other crops in any other state, and they were like, "What is it all for?" I told them: "corn syrup. corn oil. high fructose corn syrup."

Even the amish are selling primarily to corn refineries? Really? What else could they be doing with all that corn (and nothing else grown on anything near that scale)?

Ya know..... I had a similar experience when driving back from my trip this past weekend. Driving through some of the main agricultural areas I would see miles of corn....

Sweating like crazy (in my AC'd to 78 house, doing nothing but sitting) for the third day in a row. Not feeling woozy any more, though.

I think I'm going to take a week off the internet. About once every 1-2 years, I go on a research kick and make a major change in nutrition or exercise or organization or schooling or spirituality or something ... and then gotta get shaken back into life. I'm planning just to keep up with email & my journal here, and get back into my life!!
