Primal in 50 words or less

    Primal Fuel
I know the official version of Primal, but let's face it: we all have our own version. Mine has shifted through time, and I believe I am better than ever right now. I like simple because I like to let my instincts tell me what to eat, and I like to be able to explain primal advice to others. In either case, a laundry list of stuff will simply confuse you until you aren't even hungry anymore. So here's my version of primal:

Don't eat grains or food with added sugar. Attempt to get the highest quality food you can (organic, grass fed, etc).

With this, I'm eating meats, green vegetables, root vegetables, various fruits, good dairy (only if I can't get ahold of bone marrow), and occasional nuts. However, if you don't eat anything that contains grains or added sugar, you are being limited to something pretty close to my list.

    My primal version is:

High in organ meats (all, except digestive tract)
    High in fish
    Low in fibrous vegetables
    Lettuce with some nightshades
    Fruits in season
    Some raw dairy (any form)
Yellow potato and white rice as starches (rare)
    Low in muscle meat

I am still trying to find my exact version, but I would like it to be:

meats and root veggies only. I am still trying to imagine myself with organ meat and I am still trying to get the moving thing working. I am okay on an exercise bike but every other type of walking is a struggle.

I have eliminated sugary things and breads, but after 3 weeks primal, I still take a bite or two. And my wife is still buying processed meats, not just for me, but the household. I did replace my coffee sweetner from sacarhine to stevia and xylitol. Right now I think I am 75/25.

How is that working out for you? You eat organ meats almost every day?

And how can you declare what is in season or not? Greenhouses, shipments, etc can make almost any fruit be in season at almost any time of the year. It doesn't have to be in a faraway land either.

Lastly (not to beat up on you), what is your belief behind raw dairy versus pasteurized dairy? If it is good quality dairy, why you still want raw?

Fruit out of season will be shipped from far away and thus harvested before it has had time to ripen. Ripening will be forced on the fruit in a warehouse with ethylene gas. This produces inferior fruit, both in taste and in nutrients.

My version, I guess kinda sorta what I tell people:
I eat meat and vegetables, mostly meat. I don't eat flour or sugar or grains and I avoid industrial seed oils like soybean oil or corn oil and anything that is fake.

Relax. Have fun. Be active. Don't eat bird food. Challenge yourself. Be strong. Don't take anything too seriously. Beware boxed imitation food. Analyze the situation. Do the right thing, especially when it's hard. Live well. Be awake. Stretch once in a while. Enjoy life. Enjoy nature. Enjoy friends. Be humble. Be human.
