Just sharing a sauce recipe my mum made for me the other night, to replace bottled tomato sauce at a BBQ.
For those who like steak on their steak, feel free to ignore But for those who would like something to put on their steak, or whatever, occasionally, this isn't too bad.
2 x 400g tins chopped tomato (or I guess you could use fresh tomatoes if this isn't primal enough?)
2-3 sprigs thyme
2 clove garlic peeled
salt and pepper (to taste)
Whack the tomatoes, thyme and garlic a saucepan, bring to the boil, then simmer with
the lid off for about 20mins, or until it thickens.
Remove the thmye and garlic. Blend the sauce til smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Done.
Makes about 500ml.
I put this on the roast that my parents cooked for Australia day, but also used the leftovers on my omlettes and then as a 'pasta' sauce (sans pasta).
