I have a broccoli that has turned a bit brown at some places. Is it okay to boil it and eat it anyway?
Why would you ever boil a vegetable? My broccoli in my yard got tinged by frost and those parts are a bit brown. I just cut them off. How to properly cook broccoli:
Peel the stem, cut into bite sized pieces.
Trim off leaves, cut if needed.
Cut flowerettes into bite ized pieces.
In steamer pail over simmering water, place leaves and stems. Allow to cook until barely tender, then add flowerettes which cook much faster.
I save my steaming water to pour on my garden. After it is cool of course. You can use it on houseplants also.
Boiling is the best way to remove all the micronutrient content from food.
If it is slimy, I would pitch it.
