    Primal Journal - Pam

    Primal Fuel
Basically starved most of my life or binged. Kept very thin (model thin as that's what I was); then the weight crept up and I got tired of the starving part! Hmm! Easy to see what was left. In my family, 1/2 pound over extremely thin made one ugly. That was in the 113 lbs. days. Forgot to mention, I weigh 216.6. Goal: 135.

So, to make a long story short, I'm going public (unheard of) and going primal.5' 8 1/2"

    Hi, Lopisheep!

I agree with your epiphany, but I think it could be recast to say that the Conventional Wisdom for diet has driven a lot of us to behave in a binge-eating way that manifests as an eating disorder. It's just a matter of terminology, but it's those darn insulin spikes and drops from the carbs that turns many of us into crazy involuntary eaters.

I'm new here, too, I'll try to keep you company

I think this is so amazing you are doing this! I can't wait to go up there and start our Richard Simmons and diet i'm confident in this. I think you are absolutely right about eating snacks in between when you are hungry and being satisfied with meals, really helping. LOVE YOU!

Good luck on the pullup thing! I'm going to try to do one by the end of the year. And when you mess up on the diet, just let that be its own screw-up. Don't let it be permission to screw up the rest of the day. That one screw-up actually won't take you that off-track, but a whole day of it makes it a lot easier to derail. I did a high tea with a friend earlier this month and was worried about what it would do to me. I had an energy lull after the meal, but went on a long walk afterward anyway. I ended up gaining back my energy and likely offset some of other physical impacts of eating too much sugar.

    "It gets better ..."

Really, nixing the fruit ends up being like nixing any other sweet. It's hard at first, but then it becomes a habit. If you think about it, any nutrient you can get in a fruit can be obtained in a vegetable without as much sugar. Some day you can work fruit back in, but when trying to fix insulin sensitivity and lose weight, I think we're better off without it for a while. When I want a dessert I usually do something with coconut milk - actually I'll just put a little stevia in it with maybe cinnamon and vanilla and that's my dessert. It's got a lot of fat in it, so it's hard to overeat it or eat it at all unless I'm actually hungry.

    Wow, Primal Cajun --

What fun to get someone live on my journal. I always feel like I'm talking to myself. In fact, I was thinking, as I got on a bit ago -- the online journal is silly. I'll just keep it on paper. Nobody reads it but me. Now I feel much better.

Yes, you are so right. This is exciting stuff. I've subscribed to your journal too. I luckily landed on it when I first got on, but then lost track. I didn't know about subscribing and kept forgetting names of the journals that intrigued me. Well, yes, we do have access to yummy vegetables and fruits, but then think of the meat you guys have -- I mean grass fed Texas Longhorn! Are you in the country?

Lucky! I'm too scared to get rid of any of my cloths because as soon as I buy new stuff I feel like I'm going to shrink out of them... I'm starting to look like I've got parachute pants though...

lopisheep...We do live in the country. In the middle of about 40 acres...2 are ours we bought from BIL, so we could live out here to help watch over my MIL. They have cows but we don't...I would love to have a couple but hubby doesn't want to mess with them. We have 15 Barred Rock chickens, so I get to eat my own fresh eggs & boy are they wonderful. I haven't been able to find any grass fed Longhorn meat. I haven't been able to find any grass fed meat period with the exception of a grocery store here that does carry a VERY SMALL selection of grass meat from regular beef. And boy is it HIGH! *sheesh* I bought a package of grnd meat today to make me up some patties to have on hand for lunches. Am anxious to see how it tastes.

Good luck on the weighing in on the 16th. I'll bet you are going to be shocked at how well you've done!!

    Have a great evening!!
