Hey Pam, wondering how you are doing and what is going on with you!? I saw a post on someone's journal that things were crazy and stressful - tell us about it and we'll at least share cyber hugs with you! We miss seeing you on here!

I haven't yet made the switch, but for three days I've increased fat and protein and sharply reduced carbs - I no longer want snacks or an evening of crunching whatever is in the box/bag (corn chips, tortilla chips, pretzels, little fishie crackers, etc.) and I've lost 2.5 lbs. Monday I'm starting the 21-day thingy!

Sounds like you're definitely on track! Keep up the good work.

It is so satisfying to add more fat and protein to the diet. The fat is really important, I think.

Well, Coll, it's rather on the heavy side. A wonderful person who had a great impact on my younger son -- his voice teacher and very good friend -- commited suicide. She lost her husband, moved from Wisconsin to Washington to further her music career and had moved into a new apartment after living for a year or so in one that she didn't like and was going to get her own studio. Something must have really gone wrong in a several week period. She cancelled lessons one week for illness, and then she was gone.

Then, there is a divorce going on in the family -- a person who turned out to be an alcoholic, a gambler, a liar, and all that goes with the addictions -- an insurmountable obstacle in any marriage -- especially if the person is in denial. Having your partner start out drunk on 9 in the a.m. on days off just doesn't work -- especially if you are an active, functional, light loving person. However, she is picking up the pieces and coming out of the stupor she was in because of it all and looking radiant, functioning better than ever, lucky to be out of the mess, and her old optimistic self.

So, it's been a lot crazy! Perhaps it's time to think about food again. I haven't lost anything, but amazingly enough, I have remained stable -- but that's not good enough or judg will make me buy new jeans!!

Lol! Look out for Judg! So sorry to hear about the trauma going on! So very devastating to lose someone to suicide ... And one of my brother's has just gone through a divorce in the last year - and while it was devastating because of the way his wife acted (and had done for their whole marriage!) I can see that he is starting to see the light again. She is remarried and it seems that it is good for him to have any hope that they might get back together taken away altogether because he seems to be trying to move on. At least the kids are still close by and he gets to see them a fair amount. So hard...

Excellent that you have not gained weight inspite of the trials! It is a good day to pick up the pieces and get going again - I know that I need to do that after a major feast day yesterday!

Very sad to hear about the suicide - so tragic and so hard. I have lost a couple of close friends that way and don't know if there is anything harder to deal with. Sending good wishes to your son.

Sorry to hear about your son's vocal teacher. I've been fortunate enough to have never lost anyone to suicide but I can only imagine how painful it would be to suddenly not have someone in my life that I had regular contact with.

Pam, so sorry to hear about the suicide too. That is one of the roughest things to go through. Divorce is no fun either.

On the upside, your new signature is really making me laugh. We'll have to make a song out of it, or something. Big Bad Judg...

Hey, I'll be happier once you've actually got them! Sitting in the house because you have no clothes is not cool. No more treating yourself like you're a Third World slave, okay? Anti-consumerism is a wonderful thing, but too much of anything is a vice.

And get outside for your walks! Fresh air and open skies are important for mental health.

Big Bad Judg is expecting good reports of outdoor activity. In new clothes. Maybe even - gasp - a new shirt. One that makes you especially happy. That will be your punishment if you haven't reached your goal by the end of the month, seeing as you've already bought the jeans. LOL!

Nice to see your possibilities expanding. And keep in mind, that sometimes it's a piling on of triggers that does it. My migraines always seem to come from a combination of several things at once. One at a time, I can handle them.
