As someone who on average moves to a new city every 2-3 years, the top 5 ways I meet new friends is...

    • Church - Especially others that are also new and looking for connections
    • Coworkers - Easy to ask someone to hang for a drink after work
    • Activity groups (think Meetup.com)
    • Volunteering with Non-Profits
    • Completely randomly - Just keeping an eye (and ear) out at coffee shops, wherever.

I'm a pretty big introvert, so actively being involved in something - essentially giving me a context to meet people - is a must.
My Primal Journal - Food, pics, the occasional rant, so...the usual.

I love cooking. It's sexy science that you stuff in your face. - carlh

Well, well, well - look who I found! I finally decided to join the forums instead of just lurking and been catching up on your journal recently when I noticed, hey, I know that guy in the picture!

Dude- you are crazy dedicated! I'm so proud of you!!

As for relationships - my offer to hang out still stands as I'm still in KW. I'm normally out of town a lot because I live in Peterborough now, but if you just want a random hang out, no pressure, let me know. If not, I'm not offended either. I'm pretty much a home body and don't hang out a lot, but sometimes it's nice to mix stuff up. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like it's so hard to make new friends at this stage of life... it seems hard to keep up with or form new relationships when most people are so overscheduled these days. I miss the old days when you could just hang out with someone, instead of "planning" days or even weeks in advance. Lame.

Ecks, I would stop and consider the people you already know and figure out who you really want to cultivate friendships with. And then do it. Put aside a night every week (or whatever) for friends and invite them over or out or whatever fits. I've been kind of out of the social loop for a while too, mainly because my family uses up my limited energy pretty well. But when hubby's in the States, and especially when nobody else is living with me, I make a point of getting together with one of my girlfriends every week. And if my energy improves enough, I'll get involved in one of the small groups at church. And I have a few online friends too.

I won't give advice about Jo-Jo though, LOL! That would come dangerously close to meddling...

Invite people over for regular game nights. Ask them to bring someone you don't know. Invite those people back. You get to know people really well by doing things together. Games help people drop their guard. It is easier to have fun, and you get to see who has the qualities you want in a friend (and likewise).
I know you have has success with your volleyball group- why not see if some of them want to try board or card games. Try a new game every time, and mix it up. They aren't that expensive, and many libraries have game check-outs. Have goofy prizes. And of course, delicious food.

I think Sabine's idea is perfect. My husband and I love game nights. It is a great way to get to know people. They forget to keep up facades and you get to know the real person once the guard is let down.

You doin' BP coffee for lunch? That's a pretty interesting take on it so let me know how it turns out!
Judg, Bulletproof coffee is simply high quality coffee (organic, fair trade, well sourced) blended with 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 (or more if tolerated) tablespoon of MCT oil. Sounds disgusting but I have it every morning and I can't see myself enjoying regular coffee nearly as much!! For your reference :-) Recipe: How to Make Your Coffee Bulletproof…And Your Morning Too The Bulletproof Executive

    Seriously....try it. It's amazing!

Ecks, are you ever planning on trying the Bulletproof fasting protocol again? I know we talked about this a while back but it's still holding strong for me! PS. I will be trying your sour cream eggs soon. I've already used heavy cream and feta so this would be just a stones throw away and I never thought of it. Plus, it's a rare time that I actually have some sour cream in my fridge...

Yummm.. Sour cream eggs? Those are a must this week.

Also, I haven't had bulletproof coffee in a while. I am waiting until I go back to the fat burning stage and then start the Bulletproof Fasting system again. I really enjoyed that because it tasted great, felt good, and saved me time and money on cooking!! Gotta get this sugar out of my system first...
