Maple syrup is still sugar. Better sugar, but sugar. As is honey. (Yes, I know, I'm being a grinch.) To be consumed in small quantities, and only occasionally, to avoid falling back into sugar addiction.

:P My batch made 18 brownies. That's 1/18th of a cup of honey per brownie as I used bakers chocolate instead of chocolate chips. *playing devils advocate*

LOL! Hey, I've made brownies too. And being in a rebellious frame of mind, I ate them all in two days...Next time I'll try to pace myself better.
I didn't gain weight though, as I considered them meals instead of snacks. Not good as a regular regime for sure, but seeing as I only did that piece of stupidity once, it hasn't ruined my life.

I made a 'paleo breakfast bread' recipe once - it was so good. It was too good! Very similar, although it didn't have chocolate. If I remember correctly, it was just almond butter, eggs, cinnamon, maple syrup, salt, and baking soda. I can't make stuff like that unless I have someone to help me eat it! I've tucked it away in case I need to take a baked good somewhere.

I know what you mean... I dropped off a decent portion of my test run of brownies at my sister's place yesterday and brought a few into work. Now that I know it works I'll be making some for a church christmas party this sunday

Now that would be ideal - if someone (other than me) would start bringing paleo stuff to church! You would not believe the junk provided there...well, you probably would believe it. It's a refined carbohydrate frenzy all the time!

I get lucky... On a regular basis there is someone who brings a fruit tray. On event nights I'm sometimes lucky enough that someone will bring a plate of bacon :-)

You are lucky! Lucky for me means someone brings some grapes, the least primal of fruit. Or cheese. Not good cheese. Of course I need to bring stuff myself. But it is easier to just not eat. And I get tired of the questions. Honestly, I'm not going to convert anyone at church anyway.
