Wow, really? Over here the McDonalds adverts boast that their patties contain '100% British beef and nothing else.' I always thought that if I was on the road with no other food available, I could get a burger from McD's and toss the bun.

I think American McD's and European McD's are two entirely different beasts. I went to a McD's this morning (in Germany) for a meeting and had a decaf latte in the McCafe - it was like Starbucks! Real glasses and everything. Kind of startling.

    Stats as of 3/1/12:
    5'10" female, 38 y/o
Currently 140 lbs., approx 25% body fat
WEIGHT GOAL: lose a bit more body fat and tighten up the rear end...basically, I want to look great naked. Everywhere else is looking great, but my ass/hips/thighs are being a bit stubborn. TMI?
    DAILY MACRO TARGETS: Cal: 1,857. Protein: 100g (400cal). Carb: 75g (300cal). Fat: 128g (1156cal).
EXERCISE GOAL: incorporate 2-3 strength training sessions and 1 sprint session per week.

I would def say US McD's is worlds apart from other countries. My husband and I were in Brazil last year and the burger was actually BEEF. Juicy, delicious beef!

Ok, while I'm not defending McDonald's here (and do not eat there), can anyone who posted above questioning the ingredients of McDonald's "beef" point me in the direction of something authoritative that says their beef isn't "beef" (or enough "beef" to even be called "beef?") I understand it's easy to throw hearsay around, but I'm genuinely curious to see whether any of that information is inconsistent with what McDonalds says:

Despite all those myths out there, none of our meat is fake! McDonald’s uses only 100% USDA-inspected beef from real beef cattle to make our burger patties. Our chicken is 100% USDA-inspected real chicken, supplied by industry leaders like Tyson Foods and Keystone Foods, and the same high standards apply to our 100% pork..We don’t use any binding ingredients. Our burger patties are made from 100% pure beef, with no binders or fillers..

    Unrelatedly, grass-fed meat at McDonald's?

Apparently so (to a small, and unknown degree).

McDonald’s beef comes from cattle corn-fed in the U.S. Additionally, in order to keep up with demand, a small percentage of grass-fed beef is imported from Australia and New Zealand.

Nuh uh. Subway's tuna is loaded with mayo (canola, soybean, etc.), and their "olive oil" is only 10% olive, 90% canola.

At subway, the only safe meat to have is the roast beef. Get a roast beef spinach salad, load it up with parmesan, and have them make a ghetto vinaigrette with the spicy mustard and red wine vinegar (no oil).

Sadly, this is the only safe option there. Every single other item they have is loaded with frankenfats and HFCS (the "oven roasted chicken breast", for example, is like 20% soy)

i'm glad i read this thread, had no idea about the unwich option at jimmy john's and we have one right by our house :::sweeet!:::
we go to moe's and order homewreckers butt naked with no rice or beans pretty frequently...no chipotle's here.
if you have a lenny's in your area, their salad is full of meat (and cheese if you can eat it) yummo!
we also do local bbq joints in a pinch but sides are always difficult

McDonald's or the like I can grab a salad and/or eat the meat out of a plain burger.

Italian places or pizza, I go for salad (and probably snitch a little pepperoni and cheese!).

I just had a Carl's Jr Low Carb Burger the other day. It's a big fat burger wrapped in lettuce. I had it with just the lettuce, tomato and onion, no condiments. ALSO, they will lettuce wrap any burger on their menu. Good stuff
