Starting strength program - Anyone want to join me?

    Primal Fuel
I am starting this on Friday.
Anyone want to join me and chat about it here?
I am not new to lifting.
    My current PRs are:
    Bench press - 25 kg
    Squat - 60 kg
    Deadlift - 55 kg

I have not done power cleans yet, so don't know what I can do for that. I am using the assisted chin/pullup machine, and had 51 kg on there, this needs a lot of improvements.

I'm considering it. I've been lifting for 10 years now though, and wonder if it would really improve my strength much. Any experienced lifters out there who saw impressive gains with SS?

According to this http://www.exrx.net/Testing/WeightLi...hStandards.htm I'm more or less in the advanced category in everything except the back squat.

^ It's called "Starting" Strength for a reason - intermediate and experienced lifters might need other programs. If you've been lifting for 10 years progressively, I doubt that you could gain much on any program.

BTW: I'd be glad to join, but I don't have the book yet. I have "Strong Enough" though, which is a really nice and fun to read book.

    My current stats:

    Bench: At least 75kg
    Squat: At least 90kg
    Deadlift: At least 100kg

(I didn't do 1RM tests - the numbers are simply guesses based on low rep (3-5) sets)

EDIT: I guess a more useful thing would be to express the numbers as relative to your lean body mass. Mine is about 80kg, so:

Bench: About 95% lean body weight
Squat: About 110% lean body weight
Deadlift: About 120% lean body weight

I guess I would aim at 120% for bench, 150% for squat and 200% for deadlifts - all for reps of course, not for 1RM.

Yea, I looked more into it and it seems like the madcow 5x5 would be a good one for me. Best of luck to all of you!

I did madcow advanced and it is really good. Good mix of ramping sets and 5x5 depending on the day....I think you will love it.
Another good one is compound exercises for punny arms...all the good compound moves and a good change of reps and sets over the 16weeks

Good luck with SS. I did a cycle 6-8 months ago, and it was pretty awesome. Are you going to drink the milk?
