Hi everyone
While I have started the primal journey I'm one of those people chained to a desk for a living. I've found changing the diet relatively easy ... it's incorporating the primal fitness aspects that are harder. So I've set myself a challenge for 2012 as the foundation of my primal fitness lifestyle:
Walk 1000km in 2012.
That's not counting daily "routine" movement, I'm talking 1000km in dedicated, standalone walking sessions. Right now I'm rising with the sun, getting out there and walking 3km every morning. This is great becuase it also helps with the get some sunlight every day rule as well!
I'm going to track my progress in my signature block, so far after 4 days I'm on 15.36km (I did some extra on day 2), which is 4.4km ahead of target.
This might seem a modest goal to dedicated primalists, but for people starting out, I hope its a great goal to build a foundation.
Join me in the 1000km challenge!

It's a great goal. I actually tracked my walks last year and came up at 665 miles -- just over 1000km. I plan on the same this year. Having two Australian Shepherds totally helps. I'll post updates when I remember to.
this is a great goal. aside from whatever "weight loss" type benefits walking has, I think mentally there's almost nothing better than a long walk for clearing your mind!
I'll be following this thread as much as I can!

Nice one Roary, great to know its doable.
ASmallOne ... agreed, the mental aspect for me is as strong as the physical. It's mid-summer right here now and walking at 7am the mornings are crystal clear and sensational. The fresh air, the birdlife, it just restores the spirit each morning. Great for the spirit of Carpe Diem and living each day! Loving it!
I'm planning to add some further exercises at the end of each walk - so far I'm doing 15 situps, 10 pushups, and a 1 min plank. Looking to expand this, any ideas?

I'll be in it if I can do it in the water! I can't walk at the moment due to old injuries, but I am swimming/kickboarding 1.5 km 3 times a week and 1km on another 2-3 days per week. If I can do it on that basis I'll be in it. I do some walking in the water, which I hope to build up to 500m per week (currently 240-280m x 3 times a week). My goal for 2012 is to lose 20kgs, and I have already lost 2!
