Quick question (and excuse if its in the thread I haven't read all 26 pages). How are your measuring your milage? pedometer? GPS or mapping it out before hand....just curious.

I don't think anyone has a "set" way of doing it.

Personally, I usually walk a lot of known distances. For example, I know the length of the building I work in is an 1/8th of a mile, so if I walk from end to end and back (which I try to do every hour or so during workdays) that's a quarter mile. I also have a route which I walk at lunchtime that I know is 1.6 miles.

Any new walks I do outside, I use gmap pedometer to measure. A lot of hiking/walking trails have the mileage posted, one can also go by that. If all else fails, a less accurate way would be to note how much time you spent walking and then based on your usual walking pace (from other other walks with known distance) calculate an estimated distance. I try not to do this and when I do, I am likely to "round down" the estimate, to be fair.

Still not getting as much walking in as I'd like since March stared. Do well for a couple of days, then not so well...and so forth.

    Mar 5 - 3.7 miles
    Mar 6 - 2.7 miles
    Mar 7 - 3.1 miles
    Mar 8 - 2.3 miles
    Mar 9 - 2.5 miles
    Mar 10 - 1.0 miles
    Mar 11 - 1.6 miles

    YTD -- 158.9 miles (255.7K)

Looks like Cantare is lapping the field!
