    Thank you for sharing about the natural occurrence of bromide in sea water & foods. That's one reason why I don't use kelp supplements for my iodine/iodide therapy.

    Here is the most complete analysis of kelp that I can find. I'm sure that there are variations amongst different types of seaweed and sea vegetables.

    My thought is that once a person's iodine levels are normalized and their health is restored, then kelp and other sea vegetables are a good way to maintain the iodine. The relatively smaller amounts of the other halides like bromide can be eliminated easily then - and iodine/iodide will be taken up preferentially. We are just overloaded with iodine blocking toxins now.

    I have Magnesium aspartate. Is that the right kind of magnesium to be taking with iodine? The active ingredient is Magnesium Aspartate, 400mg, then in the other ingredients it has magnesium stearate.

    I've read the entire thread the last two days, and am a little overwhelmed. However, I am SO THANKFUL for all of the insight. In 2008 I was having 20-day heavy periods while ON birth control, doctors tried switching pills many times, no help. I also was diagnosed with ovarian cysts and fibroids the same year. My sister had ovarian cancer the same year, so I had surgery to remove the cyst that was persistent, fortunately did not end up cancerous. I am also hypothyroid, on a low dose of synthroid, etc.

    In 2010 I started acupuncture for the menstrual issues, which helped enormously. I cannot say enough about how wonderful acupuncture has been for my body. I also quit the birth control pills, which made me feel MUCH better. However, things were still not completely corrected. While my periods became 5 days rather than 20 days, they are still incredibly heavy for two of those, sometimes very painful as well. I started a paleo lifestyle in December (I'd been gluten/dairy free for over a year prior), and added in supplements of magnesium and kelp (225mcg) in January. Reading all of this I realize that I have probably been hugely iodine deficient for many years, and am excited to know that there is hope for my body getting even more figured out than it is at present. Thank you all for the insight.

    sorry if this has been already asked, this is one long thread!
    @huntingbears,
    That is perfect for starting out slooowly to avoid nasty detox symptoms. You ARE loaded with toxins - all of us are. Before your kelp tablets are gone, order the 12mg Iodoral and the 5% Lugols liquid to titrate up. The end goal is 12mg maintenance level for life after we have detoxed all the poisons from our system.

    I wanted to get your opinions on the specific products to take.

    I will use this for the skin test: Amazon.com: J.CROW'S® Lugol's Solution of Iodine 5%: Health & Personal Care

    And I will supplement with these kelp pills at 400mg per day and increase very slowly: Amazon.com: Nature's Way Kelp Capsules, 180-Count: Health & Personal Care

    And eventually will reach a maximum limit by taking this iodoral: Amazon.com: Optimox Iodoral 180 tabs: Health & Personal Care

    And can the iodine supplements be taken with other supplements? It won't effect the other ones I am taking?

    Thanks in advance
    @leanzorik
    Your order plan is perfect.
    * Start out sloowly with the kelp
    * When those are gone, titrate up with the iodoral
    * Use Lugols for the skin testing & also to help titrate up
    Iodine only interferes with the toxins that we have piled up in our bodies.

    @rrustadI do believe you are correct. The problem is eating enough seaweed every week to offset new toxins coming in. I would find it easier to just take the iodoral 24mg tablets daily for the rest of my life. Also, stores just don't carry seaweed in my area, and health food stores are GROSSLY expensive. @@patchthebun,
    I don't know - all I know is what the doctors recommend which is the following:
    • 400 mg magnesium best=glycinate (or citrate or malate) (not magnesium oxide )
    I am not a chemist so I prefer to just do as I'm told.

    @@jlsavin,
    We are all grossly deficient in iodine, caused by nasty chemical overload kicking iodine out of every cell in our bodies. Best of luck to you restoring your health with the iodine protocol,

    This is exciting stuff, and we are leading the charge. Pass this along to everyone we know, FB. Twitter, friends & relatives. We can put the nasty $50 Billion Cancer Industry out of business & restore womens health if everyone in the USA took iodine supplements!

    IODINE IS A NATURAL ANTIBIOTIC
    ===============================
    I think you guys are ignoring the proverbial elephant in the room: IODINE is a replacement for conventional antibiotic treatment.

    The End of Antibiotics and the Rise of Iodine as an Effective Alternative
    Iodine Dosages and Treatments – IMVA » Antibiotics
    So pardon me, I was [gulp] wrong about 12mg being our target maintenance level. The answer above makes a lot of sense. If we weren't being constantly bombarded with toxins all around us, then perhaps 12mg daily would work for us. ( We need to supplement MORE iodine than the toxins coming in every day to have iodine dominance )

    Hey, we are all learning, and many thanks to the Internet ! A valuable resource for us all.

    PS) THIS IS WORTH REPEATING !
    Iodine is by far the best antibiotic, antiviral and antiseptic of all time.

I suggest saving your iodoral for later, and ordering Lugols 2% iodine from Amazon.Com. Then start on 1 drop lugols daily to help you detox. In the meantime, cut each iodoral into 4 pieces and take 1 piece daily. If detox persists, then take 1 piece every other day or even once per week until your detox goes away. Then start titrating your dose back up. You will eventually make it to a full iodoral per day with NO detox symptoms. Be patient. This is a long term program that will work.

    Thanks so much Grizz! I'm sure you're right about curing my endometriosis. And I will take your advice on the lugol's and iodoral. Hopefully in a few months I'll be able to report that all my pain is gone!
