Once a person has FBD, and it has been determined that the cysts are Type 1, that person need to remain diligent about the additional risk and get the breasts checked for cancer regularly, as well as have any lumps immediately scheduled for a check by a doctor.

I would also like to point out that "Dr. Beailieu" is NOT a medical DOCTOR.
On his website he is billed as an "Allergy Specialist and Clinical Nutritionist"... "a Chiropractor with a Masters degree in nutrition, over 40 years experience in clinical nutrition and certification in NAET" which is " an allergy treatment based on classical acupuncture that is performed without needles".

Taking medical advice form someone who calls themselves a Doctor, yet has no credentials... no MD, no PhD, no medical training at all in fact... seems ill advised.

And Dr. Derry became the testimonial and advice king after getting his license to practice medicine in Canada suspended in 2002 for prescribing dessicated thyroid to patients who tested within the normal range for those hormones, at dosages that were often much higher than what is considered safe in the medical community.

I also don't take medical advice from doctors who had their licenses revoked. YMMV of course.

Once again, there is an *association* between FBD and breast cancer. Correlation not causation.

And Grizz sure does pick some winners for his "expert" testimonials.

    Gems from the Internet:

BEWARE OF MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS CHEMICALS
    =====================================
None of my family (husband and two dogs) were hypothyroid until we got a
Tempur-pedic mattress. Within 6 months on that bed I was very sick and
continued to get sicker. Complete brain fog, zero energy, goiter,
swollen lymph nodes for over a year, exercise intolerance (my adrenals
went too). It took us 4 years to figure out that the bed was making us
sick, but by that time all four of us were hypo. I started to feel
better as soon as that bed was out of the house. I no loner have brain
fog or swollen nodes. I still have a goiter and we all still take NTH,
but I'm no longer a zombie. I had horrible detox symptoms when I
started to take iodine and I'm currently covered (like someone sprinkled
pepper over my whole body) with tiny cherry angiomas from the bromide
    detox.

So don't believe the lady at Tempur-pedic. I did research a year ago and
they won't divulge their chemical mix for their flame retardants, but
whatever it is, it attacks the thyroid and quite possibly the adrenals.
    ----- in Chicago
    ==========================================
Wow, -------, that is very interesting that you say all this. My health too has
drastically gotten worse over the last few years and all this after getting a
Tempur-pedic! I have gone severly hypo and my adrenals are very weak. I also
have cherry angiomas all over my body (some not so small). I have not slept on
that mattress in almost 5 months, but now I also have a Tempur-pedic pillow
Thanks for making the connection. I would never have thought to look at my
    mattress.

I have been taking Iodoral for a year and a half and I don't seem to notice much
improvement. Maybe that is due to the mattress?
    ------
    =================================================
Hi -----, I was concerned about this too. We bought our tempur pedic bed last
fall and I love it but have had a lot of symptoms. I traded the free pillow for
a buckwheat pillow which I LOVE! It is the best thing I've ever used for my
neck. As for bromide in the bed, I bought an organic mattress cover like for
dust/ mites, so I hope it is reducing our exposure. Amazon carries these items.

    Chemicals found in mattresses

We have a Queen Sized memory foam mattress (similar to the TempurPedic) from Amazon.Com, $400 including delivery. We just LOVE IT. However we wrapped it into a zippered plastic bag to keep the chemicals out of the room. We always wrap our mattresses into this plastic zippered bag, and we have no such health problems.

Virgin post here for me, resisted coming on here for ages... Lol

Also...I've been using memory foam toppers & pillows both personally & in my bodywork practice for about 12 years. Some of my past clients have had chemical sensitivities & I was hesitant to switch from organic cotton futons & pillows to foam. After reading up on the subject & talking to some foam specialists in Calif, all I did was cook my brand new foam products in the sun for a couple of days right from the store when I brought them home. Voila! No more chemical smell. As for Chiropractors not being Doctors....well they are Drs of Chiropractic, fwiw... And NAET DOES WORK, fat least for some people it does. I have a friend in Calif it totally worked for to get rid of allergies that had plagued him most of his life... Again, fwiw...

    Betorq,

Welcome to our fun & battle scarred thread ! And many thanks for your tip to get rid of the chemical smell. I'll cross post your solution to the thread where this discussion is taking place !

Putting our mattress into a zippered plastic bag (to prevent mites) has worked out perfectly for us. No chemical smell, and no health problems.

Betorq, you know I adore you and your dimple but NAET is way far off into the land of Woo.

Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And the founder of it, Devi Nambudripad has some accreditation "issues" as well. from the wiki link:

"She is licensed as a chiropractor[1] and acupuncturist[2] in California. She also identifies herself as an M.D.. Her website states that she received the Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Health Sciences Antigua (UHSA) in January 2002.[21] The California Medical Board does not list an active license, and it does not recognize medical degrees from UHSA as valid, listing it as a "disapproved" school since 1995.[22]"

My issue was with said person speaking on medical topics like FBD, cysts, cancer etc as if had medical training in those areas when they had actually had none.

Those others may be legitimate holistic practices, I have used a chiropractor myself several times, but they do not equal any sort medical training that I would trust to assess and prescribe treatment for the above noted areas of physical illness.

Hiya, Betorq. Really, this thread isn't bad if you skip the longer posts.

I think it's ironic that people in the iodine thread are demanding all sorts of mainstream research. Isn't MDA itself stuffed full of N=1 experimentation and people who fly in the face of CW? For all we know, Grizz could be the Gary Taubes of Iodine. (Now, if only Grizz were a little more systematic like Taubes was.)

I for one am more interested in the history of how Iodine came to be ignored. Or, more studies on bromine. It's been observed that breast cancer rates are higher in areas where iodine is depleted from the soil. What about areas with more bromine contamination? Any connection there? Or what about the connection between obesity and higher rates of breast cancer? Makes me wonder if both are caused by bread made from brominated flour: the wheat makes you fat and the bromine give you cancer...

    Just stuff to think about.

MY PRIMAL: I (try to) follow by-the-book primal as advocated by Mark Sisson, except for whey powder and a bit of cream. I aim for 80-90 g carb/day and advocate a two-month strict adjustment for newbies. But everybody is different and other need to tweak Primal to their own needs.
