I just rendered my first batch of clean, local lard today in the crockpot. My question is about the crunchy bits that got strained out. Any reason not to eat these? They look and smell delicious.

Yep, eat them! I believe these are called "cracklin" and are gooooood.
Please don't eat them. They need to be handled carefully. Put them in a ziplock back, put them in a box and mail them to me. I will be sure to dispose of them properly.
