My dad and I eat together and I haven't eaten anything else outside the house and he isn't sick so I doubt this is food poisoning. I ate normally for the first few days thinking it would pass but then decided to give my digestive system some time off and did a 24 hour fast. That seemed to work but then last night I finally got hungry and ate and it started up all over agin with a vengeance. Urrrrgh.

ETA: I have never had IBS or other digestive problems and am at a healthy weight now.
In the GAPS diet, Dr. McBride mentioned that she recommends high fat dairy for constipation, but low fat/high protein dairy for diarrhea - she said she didn't know, why but this combination seemed to help her patients. If you eat dairy, you could try some low-fat yogurt/dairy with some probiotics.

    Hey Judg,

I just saw that you mentioned you're dealing with chronic fatigue. I am too, and after realizing that it's only gotten worse the better i eat, I decided to keep doing some more digging - i found this amazing paper on chronic fatigue syndrome that totally blew my mind - for the first time the whole thing made so much more sense. I'm in the process of trying out some of the supplements that were recommended (mainly amino acids) and I wanted to wait a while before posting anything about it so I could see if I had any improvement, but I'd like to share this with you (and anyone else)in case it's information you haven't come across yet. (And if you do know about it already, I'd love to know your take on it!)

Thanks, BB, I'll check them out. Let me know how the supplements work for you. As you probably know, the cause(s) of CFS is/are still very hotly debated, but the more people in the scientific community poking around and trying to find it, the better. I am just trying to alleviate the symptoms for myself, and if it turns out that grains have been a major contributor to the problem, so much the better, in the sense that this is something that I can control.

Have you been anywhere where you may have picked up a bug in your food? Perhaps even from some organic veggies or at a cafe? You might need some meds if it doesn't clear up. Good luck.........
I can't imagine how horrible that would be to have this on an ongoing basis.

The only thing I can think of is a couple of free samples at the farmer's market last weekend. That was Saturday and the problem started Sunday so the timing would be right.

This kind of reminds me of when I came back from Vanuatu with a case of giardia. Maybe it's some kind of parasite.

BB, those were very interesting links. Almost depressing, in one way, because I had virtually all of the symptoms he described for CFS. Also cautiously hope-inspiring. I am going to consider the supplementation. I do note that he offered no explanation for the cause of the mitochondrial failure; there could be many of them, in varying degrees for varying people. As I have said before, I am interested in primal eating primarily because I think the grains could be a or the major cause for me, and if so, eliminating them could help immensely in improving my condition. I am willing to be patient about this; I certainly don't believe that all the damage can be undone overnight. Hopefully I have at least stopped inflicting new damage.

Quite possible you picked up a bug at that Farmers Market. A trip to the doctor could take care of it.

Whenever I get sick I try to blast it away with chili flakes and hot sauce. I always hope it will you know, burn those little buggers to hell. I think I just end up burning my butt to hell, though.

You never know who has had their fingers in the free samples.

I just remembered that my doctor gave me a bottle of industrial strength antibiotic pills specifically for the trots, four pills to be taken all at one time, that it. She gave them to me to take on my Caribbean cruise but I never needed them then. I think I'll take them now and see what happens.

Normally I'm the one who has the "cast iron" stomach, drinks the water in many third world countries without incident, etc. Safely at home in San Diego and I get something. Go figure.

Yikes! Yeah, I'd pull the trigger- it sounds like you need to nuke some tiny critters. And of course, take those lovely probiotics. Good luck! I am recovering from a bout of something in that arena too- sadly, it can be pinned down to stupidly and willingly eating two bites of cheesecake.
