@Judg --- oh - I'm sorry you and hubby are having to live apart. That has to be hard. My best friend and her hubby are living apart due to job circumstances also. They have been about 3 hours drive apart. Its been 3 years and they've had enough. They both just signed a 2 year contract with an International School in South Korea and are leaving next month. They are finally going to be in the same house again! Teaching jobs in the states are hard to come by with the economy being so bad.

I hope hubby gets to come home soon! You'll have a great summer I'm sure - and maybe by fall you'll have all the hoops jumped through and will be able to join him!

I'm headed out to Champaign, IL tomorrow to visit my sister, who is graduating from law school. (Yay, sister! ) I'm not sure how much of a vacation it'll be, since our schedule is CRAMMED full of stuff, but oh well - I get to spend time with my family (my other sister, my brother, and both parents are also going) and it gets me away from home for a while.

I'm hoping to do a camping trip or two this summer - I love camping. Especially with the horses.

I have a friend who is hiking the Continental Divide Trail. He started in New Mexico and is headed to the Canadian border. In July he'll be hiking through the Wind River Range in Wyoming. I'm going to try to drive out there and spend a week or so hiking with him and his buddies through the Cirque of the Towers. It should be beautiful and a big adventure.

Thats sounds awesome! Is this an "all at one time" hike - or broken down into chunks of time? How long does it take to hike from Mexico to Canada? My hubby and I are just starting to take up hiking - but we will only do the day hikes - nothing big like you do!

OK, so I know this makes me weird and/or lame, but I love Champaign! Of course, that's where I went for undergrad, so it has fond memories for me. The best part about going there now is that I feel so rich... food and drinks are so cheap there compared to Chicago. Plus, now I actually make more than minimum wage (which is what I was getting when I worked there). The downside of going there now though, is that none of the restaurants I loved when I was in college are primal at all. I don't think Murphy's Irish Nachos would leave me feeling too good these days, unfortuntely.

I'm actually going camping on Friday. Only for 2 nights, but it's something. I need to get away badly... between handling too many real estate transactions, my day job, my sister's wedding shower, bachelorette party, and wedding, and all the other nonsense I have going on right now I've been really stressed. It's showing in my badly broken out skin too, damn.

My friends are hiking continuously from the Mexican border to the Canadian border. It will probably take them about 5.5 months. Basically what you do is string together a series of 3-7 day backpack trips with a day or two spent in a nearby town along the way for picking up packages at the post office, grocery shopping if the town has a store, bathing and eating as much as you possibly can.

So basically I will attempt to meet them somewhere on the trail in the middle of their hike, exit with them to the next town up the trail and then try my hardest to hitchhike or otherwise get a ride back to my car.

You are a brave girl! I would never do anything like that. First - I have to have it all planned out ahead of time - know exactly when and where I'm meeting someone, know how I'm traveling, and where I'll be sleeping! Cleans hotels and places to eat are a must! I'm SOOOO not cavegirl-ish! I mean, where would I plug in my straight iron every morning?

I hope it works out for you so come share all the details with us when you get back.
