I've been at 150-ish twice. Once was five years ago, and it took starving myself with brown rice and tofu, as well as seeing a personal trainer three days a week, to get there. The moment I stopped starving, the weight bounced back. I was absolutely miserable.

The second time is now, and I've been this way since August-September. No starvation, which is nice! I suspect I need to be diligent for an extended period and bear down on the calorie restriction and the treats. I'm leery of diet mumbo-jumbo, but I swear sometimes the whole set-point thing is real. It really does seem as if my body thinks it should be at 152 pounds.

And like I said, I'm really not worrying about it too much right now. We're focusing on TTC, and that's not the time to start experimenting with diets. It's also not the time to stop being primal. So onward we go...luckily, I really like eating this way!

Ok, here we go - my first TOM since going primal. Is anyone else absolutely STARVING during their cycle?? I swear, I've eaten ALL DAY (only good things, of course ) and an hour later, I'm hungry again! And it's not boredom - I can tell the difference between bored hunger and real hunger these days. I ate like a half-pound of bacon with breakfast, and wanted MORE bacon for dinner!! Is this normal? I'm trying not to worry about calories and fat grams and to just feed my body what it wants and get through this week. Hopefully next week, things balance back out.

On a happy note, I'm nearly cramp-free this time - and I typically get cramps so badly, I spend two days in bed with a hot pack and a bottle of Vicodin. So yay for that!

I wrote the exact same post last week! I ate nuts as a snack like ALL day. Your body burns more calories during TOM I think, so it would make sense that your appetite would increase. I just made sure to pay very close attention to my hunger and I've found I maintain that week and lose 1.5-2lbs the week after. So I'm guessing the maintain weight is water weight. I've also had the reduction in cramps. Now if I could just figure out the utter exhaustion too!

I didn't see any weight loss for about 4-5 weeks. I struggled with carb flu really badly, too, especially at week 5 when I really thought I should see a doctor. I spent that week taking photos of everything I ate so I could post it somewhere and ask for help for why I wasn't losing. All my research on the Internet just showed me there were a lot of women my age and older who lost no weight and the only answer to them was "you must be cheating." How rude and dismissive. So that's why I took pictures so I'd have proof and get a real answer. But during that week I felt so awful instead I asked about why I thought I might die instead. I learned about magnesium, potassium and sodium, took that and felt better and finally started losing. Now I'm pretty much stuck here at 135 but I guess I can live with it.

I managed a 20 hour fast yesterday. I'm trying to resume my once a week fast now that it's not so cold. Trying to be more strict in general, too. Ran out of chocolate and did not replace it. Will do the same when the wine runs out. I really would like to wear a bathing suit without feeling like I'm going to die of embarrassment.

I'm hungrier during my TOM too (right now actually) - I have to stay away from nuts and stuff, or I will eat them all day long. Just gorged on eggs and pork sausage for breakfast and I will need to eat again in a few hours...I can already tell.
My cramps are easier, and after the first few months of total irregularity in TOMs everything is totally normal (whatever normal really is)

I have a quick question about IFing. I pretty much IF every day. I eat dinner around 7:30/8:00 pm, then don't eat again until lunch the next day. If I feel hungry my lunch will be pretty early (around 11:00), but some days I don't have lunch until 2:00pm. I don't know if it's a bad idea, but I really don't want food in the morning, so I don't think it is doing any harm. It's not like I'm losing weight or anything, even though that's the whole reason I started doing PB.

^I don't think fasting will be good if you are experiencing depression & trying to fix a potential thyroid issue. Focusing on plenty of good foods to heal your thyroid, mind and body, THEN weight loss.

Sometimes my appetite doesn't kick in till I've taken my supplements or had something to drink. I would suggest you eat SOMETHING, however small, in the morning, to see if it makes your stomach wake up.

TTC? Sorry, I am notoriously bad with acronyms and they seem to be incredibly popular around here. It sounds like you've proven you're very good at maintenance, which is 90% of the battle as far as I'm concerned. I hope that when you are ready for it, you'll find just the right way of shaking things up to shock your body out of its complacency, but in the meanwhile, bask in victory. Because that is what you have achieved, a very significant victory.

As a counterpoint to all the TOM posts, I am seriously wondering if I am having low-level hot flashes or whether my metabolism is changing because of my shift in eating patterns. I'm sitting here in a 67 degree house with bare arms and I'm not freezing. This is definitely new. My skin is cool to the touch, but I'm not at all uncomfortable. And I'm sitting, not moving. After physical exertion, I feel like a space heater for an hour or more, just radiating heat.

Has anybody else experienced this? Do you think it's hormonal or metabolistic?

Totally hormonal! I go from icky sweating heat to freezing cold all night long! Daytime hot flashes have pretty much subsided for me. My last period was 2 years ago next month so I am officially post menopausal! I've tried the wild yam cream that the doc sold to me for $35 - it doesn't seem to help at all. But because it cost so much I'm going to use it all up!

I hate all the accronyms too........ TTC means trying to concieve. There is a thread someplace about accronyms - but its very long and you have to read through all of them to learn them all. Its easier just to ask as they come up! I prefer to use real words. Once in while I will use SAD or CW. But everyone seems to know what those mean.

I stepped on the scale today and was down 1.8 pounds from yesterday. That was encouraging! I added some things to my supplements - maybe they are doing the trick.

    my motivation

    As per Marcadav:
    Do 30-60 days clean primal.
    No grains, sugar, alcohol.
Eat 3 meals and primal snacks.
    Don't track food.
    Don't tweak.
Don't expect issues to go away quickly. Instead, just follow the plan and see how things play out.
Decide on an exercise plan you can/will do consistently during the 30-60 days and then do it.
