Is that video for real?!? Why would someone post that? It's advertising bad form and the potential for serious injuries.

The only good part of this video is at 2:18, where this cute 3 legged dog walks by.

edit: Also, it's clear people are getting hurt. If you notice, there is a girl in the corner icing her legs throughout parts of this video.

I think that video is a gag or something (at least I really hope it is). The weights just don't sound right when they drop them. Plus, those girls are seriously strong if they are pressing that much overhead.

Each of those weights are 10lbs? I'm guessing the bar doesn't weigh much because it doesn't look like it. So total 100lbs max?

They looked bigger than 10 pounds to me. I could be wrong. I just assumed the bar was average weight. Still doesn't sound right when it hits the dirt. 100lbs isn't light even for some guys either.

There are some weights that are 10lbs but look like they are 45 to compensate for the distance you start from the ground. If you take close look ups at the weights at say, time 0:31 and pause, you can see that the weight is clearly marked 10. Also when the girl drops the weights at 3:36, the weights on the side are bending o.O I could be wrong about the bar, though. It's a weird color, so I just assumed it wasn't a regular silver metal one like I'm used to, lol.

FWIW, I know a lot of the folks in this vid. I own a CF Box in Hudson, NY (Hudson Barbell) and this was at Albany CF about an hour north of us. Apparently, this was a 1-day event, focused on Strongman-style lifting, and old school Continental Cleans. The idea is to get the weight up by any means necessary, basically, though I guess there is a rhyme or reason to it, once you google "continental cleans". This is not something they do often, or intend to even do again, as far as I know. That said, I wouldn't choose to do this at my gym...

As to the original point, how to choose a box, yeah, for most of us, there aren't many options, but if there are, I would go with the ones that have more of a focus on mobility than not, because this tends to mean they are stricter on form/technique, which is when CF really excels, IMO.

It's an Apollon axle bar, so it's fatter than regular oly bars, hence why it's really difficult to clean, but not necessarily jerk.

As for the original topic, definitely good tips.
