    Fruit vs Other Sweets

    Primal Blueprint Expert Certification
So lately I've been getting cravings for sugar. The thought popped in to my head, if you're going to be eating sugar, wouldn't fruit be the best choice compared to something like chocolate, ice cream, etc? I would think so since fruits contain more vitamins than other sweets, and they also contain antioxidants to somewhat combat the oxidative damage caused by rapid metabolism.

    Thoughts?

I think it is carbs, as rice seems to satisfy my cravings too. Would rice be "healthier" than fruit? I'm not concerned about weight gain to be clear.

If its carbs you need, then just have some. I find that 2-3 days weekly I get that tired, fatigued feeling, and having a bowl of frozen berries and a chopped banana always perks me up. I see it as my body's way of telling me what I need. Berries are full of antioxidants, some carbs and lots of water. For the pleasure I get from eating them, I certainly don't feel like stressing over it.

Yes, of course fruit is better than processed sweets. If you're not concerned about weight gain, eat whatever natural food you crave. No need to divert cravings for sweets to a sweet potato or white rice if you'd rather have fruit.

nah i would stick with tubers unless ur eating rice after a lifting session. but then again its up to. or u can do what i do when im craving a sweet snack that doesnt fall on carb up days. i mash up some avocado i usually keep mine in the fridge, throw in some stevia, cinnamon, vanilla extract, 3 or 4 chopped up macadamia nuts.

    healthy fats, moderate carbs win!
