Mark suggests just carbs. But I count net because I have IBD and the fiber helps, and counting net keeps me conscious of that.

Net carbs if you want to be accurate, total carbs if you're lazy. Remember, fiber is digested into butyrate and other short-chain fats, not glucose.
Net carbs is more of an Atkins thing. And not everyone agrees that fiber is great.
But my point again was that everyone needs to do what works for them. Just that when most people on these boards talk carbs, it's total and not net, so there's no misunderstanding.
