Angry Gone Primal and Still Can't Sleep!

    Primal Fuel
Hello Everyone! I am new to being Primal as it has been hard to get rid f my sweets addiction haha. I have been Primal for a little bit now but I am still struggling to get a good night's rest. I have no problem faling asleep but I always wake up in the middle of the night feeling congested and with bad dry mouth and alot of the times having to take ibuprofen to get back to bed. When I wake up I feel groggy and more tired than when I went to bed but I have been sleeping for 7-8 hours. I also have aching legs almost everyday. I am a waitress so I walk and stand on my feet for 7-8 hours a day and I get in Primal workouts throughout the week. I am hoping someone out there in the Primal world can help me out with some suggestions because this is the type of stuff that discourages me from being Primal because they say it's supposed to give you renewed energy and better sleep and I feel worse Ideas appreciate! Thanks!

Perhaps you might try a humidifer for the dryness?

I have actually tried that and have not found a difference. That is why I am thinking it may be something I am eating or not eating. I don't know !?!?

are you eating any dairy? I've heard dairy can sometimes trigger congestion. or perhaps it's an allergy to something you are eating? some people are allergic to eggs, not sure if that would trigger that kind of response though. what are you eating daily? are you drinking enough water?
for your aching legs, have you tried epsom salt baths? that will help ease the ache.

also, how long have you been eating primal? perhaps you are experiencing a 'carb flu' ?

I second the magnesium citrate. I sleep like a friggin' boulder at night, dude! Not just some rock you stumble across, but like the stone in front of Jesus's tomb. Ain't nobody but God gonna wake me up! LOL

I third the Magnesium. In addition, take Potassium supplements and put more salt on your food. I take 5 potassium tablets (I think they're 99mg) a day and still sometimes get leg cramps if I stretch in the night. Thankfully the debillitating pains I was getting in my arms is gone. The lite salt didn't work for me and the potassium without also the sodium in regular salt didn't work. I had to have both before I felt strong and healthy again and it took a whole week of these supplements before I felt better.

And salt. Make sure you're getting enough salt.

I was 2 months in to primal and every night I woke up between 2-4 and then struggled to sleep the rest of the night. I read on paleohacks about being TOO low carb so I added in a 1/2 to a whole serving of a higher sugar fruit like an orange or a banana, and problem was solved! Also make sure you get lots of veggies; I notice when I eat too much almond flour or coconut flour baking, my veggies get cut out and I feel icky.
