Too bad there isn't a place there for comments. I'd have to say that it isn't just about weight loss.
I voted yes to all the atkins diets, no to everything else, and obviously YES to paleo..
you think we can get it off the bottom? I can't believe slimfast is above it!

Too bad there isn't a place there for comments. I'd have to say that it isn't just about weight loss.
I actually don't think paleo is a diet, in the sense of weight-loss diet, at all, so I don't think it should be compared to slim fast. Weight loss diets are plans "designed" for weight loss. I have lost weight eating paleo, and also gained weight (muscle) eating paleo, and also maintained healthy weight eating paleo. There is no caloric restriction involved in any of the popular versions of paleo, you can eat 6k calories per day if you want, drinking cans of coconut milk, etc. and if you do that you are highly unlikely to lose much weight.
If you are new to the PB - please ignore ALL of this stuff, until you've read the book, or at least http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-101/ and this (personal fave): http://www.archevore.com/get-started/
I don't think it's productive to push primal/paleo to people who only want to lose weight.
I think the Paleo/Primal crowd has to stop worrying about stuff like this. Sure, ancestral health changed your life and means a lot to you, but the existence of magazines and blogs that don't "get it" hardly makes you marginalized. And if people give you grief, just take solace in the fact that you're probably happier than they are. A lot of our "diet culture" is centered around deprivation and really hard work (in other words, penance), which is sort of the intuitive answer for our culture: results come from suffering.
And then we all come along, essentially saying you can be healthier and happier by being a hedonist and having some fun. Let's focus on walking that walk instead of worrying about what US News or NPR has to say about what we're doing.
I voted just for shits and giggles, but I'm not sure it registered any of my votes.
Meh.
OK by me if it stays on the bottom. That way, we can all walk around with a knowing smile like the guy in the Viagra ad. Let's keep it our little secret. Shhhhh
I saw this article on huffington post. There were several comments there about paleo diets being the best. I made a comment about primal eating and had someone ask for a book on it. I think the word is clearly getting out - for better and for worse![]()
Wanna' gain weight? Try the Slim Fast diet. I can't believe it's #5 because I gained 10 pounds in the short time I was on it. I can't replace a meal with ANY drink because I STILL get hungry!
