Any primals in Pennsylvania?
Looking like I'll be heading up to Pennsylvania in a few weeks to work with on the Marcellus shale oil drilling jobs. Since I'm from Southern Texas, need an idea as to what to expect winter wise up there. Also if there are any other primals in the area, would like to meet up if possible but unsure exactly where I will be right now.
Probably not headed my way (Harrisburg is not really a Marcellus area), but I suspect you will be somewhere to the North and/or West of the spine of the Appalchians. In other words, what we like to refer to as God's Country. If you're a fan of the NFL and you've seen Steelers or Bills games in December and January, and you thought it looked cold, it's because it damned well is. Not sure how much you'll be working outdoors during the winter, but you'll definitely want to prepare, including face gear.
Pretty sure there are some Pittsburgh primals on the board, but otherwise it's pretty sparsely populated where you're likely to be going. The Marcellus issue is a real hot button, BTW. Local radio has had some great in-depth discussions pro and con, but my sense is that most folks are a bit uneasy about the ramifications.
On the plus side, there are lots of farms where you can buy good meats, eggs, and dairy direct. I'd check eatwild.com as soon as you have an idea where you're headed.
I am in Reading PA...
You will be in Pennsyltucky area.... The make some friends with hunters... there are plenty of deer that need killing and eating.
Winters... well you from the south... A good pair of boots and gloves go a long way. Also if you get a chance at all you should try skiing or snowboarding.
Also make friends with hunter and get yourself some deer jerkey... I am not joking
I'm going to bump this tread. I have now found out that I'll be in the Moon Township area which looks like it is a sub of Pittsburgh. Any primals around there?
