What an awesome post. I honestly believe the primal/paleo way is the way to get off the roller coaster for good. And yes, it does have a nice effect on the skin.

Hmmm, was I able to convey the fact that I was getting a bit bored with this whole food reporting bizo? Well I was. So I stopped. I do this reporting the food thing on another site as well, stopped there too, it was a January challenge though and January was nearly over...

In summary, on days when I avoid the snacks I have baked for the kids I am completely happy with how I eat from a health, fitness and food satisfaction point of view, on the days when the snacks weasel their way into my mouth I am an abysmal primal failure. The last few days the snacks have stayed away. Woohoo!!!

I actually feel like I've reached a bit of a turning point where the snacks can disappear into the background again. It's a mood thing, it's always a mood thing... for me. I'm never quite sure whether I eat well when I am feeling good emotionally, or I feel good emotionally when I eat well, I think it's a little of both.

    Onwards.

Oh yeah, yoga makes me feel good and my weekly class restarted a week ago.. and I did 2 classes on Saturday. Yay!

The last few days have been good food-wise and I'm feeling pretty good mentally/emotionally most of the time as well.

I feel strong and empowered today so I did a bit of a dummy spit at a weight loss site I have been visiting for years and I cancelled my membership. Oh the sense of freedom!

This morning I have started my first bone broth. I have made stock before using, for example, a chicken carcass, but the bone broth concept seems a little different. I found bones (various kinds) at the Fyshwick Fresh Food markets ($2.50 per kilo) and I bought lamb ones. I have browned them in the oven and have them simmering in the slow cooker with water, carrots, celery, peppercorns, a bay leaf and some apple cider vinegar. Cooking times seem to vary but as my cooker's max time is 12 hours I am going to do that, it will finish in the middle of the night and then stay warm until morning, so let's see what I have tomorrow. Now I just have to figure out how to 'sell' this concoction to the kids, I can't see them getting enthusiastic about something called bone broth... I could be wrong of course.

I made pork crackling last night. I have always hated the thought, the texture and the taste of crackling but as it was part of the recipe I was making I decided to give it a go. It was good, damn it. Everyone loved it. There was none left over. Oh dear, I have started something now.

    Have a lovely weekend blueprinters!
