I knew a guy once, he ate popcorn once in a while. Then he DIED.
I have no desire for popcorn any more since going Paleo. Its simply a high carbohydrate starch. Gonna spike the blood sugar. Yet I still see the Harvard newsletter telling me to eat "healthy low fat popcorn". Sure ; popcorn without trans fats is "healthier" than with. But how is a high glycemic load starch healthy?
Popcorn is evil. The amount of flossing is not worth it.
Whatever you do, please don't try to scratch a popcorn itch at the cinema. That stuff is a 30-ingredient atrocity.
Lots of: urban hiking, cycling, sprinting
Lots of: fresh meat, seafood, eggs, organs, tubers, starch fruits, vegetables, meat fat, dairy fat, oil fruits
Some: cured meat, dairy protein, sweet fruits, rice, pulses, tree nuts, oil seeds
Minimal: soy, refined proteins, sugar, liquid carbohydrate, grains, refined oils, peanuts
I personally am not against properly prepared grains (ie Nourishing Traditions).
Aside from obvious GMO reasons, the reason I don't eat popcorn, or corn in general, is for a reason that unfortunately I never see discussed on this forum which is that most corn and corn products are not prepared using nixtamalization. So at best, eating the corn goes right through the digestive system without any nutrients being absorbed, and at worse may actually leach nutrients from the body.
