    Spices

    Primal Fuel
I currently use turmeric, cumin, garlic and onions on a regular basis to help optimize my health. Are there any other spices that you try and get daily for the major health bennies?

I'm not talking about spices that help a little but the major ones that you are convinced will keep things away like automimmune diseases or cancer...

I don't try to include spices in my diet for health benefits, but I *do* pride myself on a very well stocked spice cabinet. Chalk it up to a mom who never used spices, resulting in an OCD "if they make it, I want it" spice daughter!

I'm with the Doc on this one -- tho the list from pyro is a good one. I try to incorporate spices in my meals, but not generally for health reasons but for taste reasons. I have taken cucurmin as a supplement in the past. I'm not sure you can get enough of a daily punch of most spices to act medicinally -- that's a lot of spice each day! I know for cinnamon, they recommend 1/2 to 1 tsp. per day to help with glucose swings. That I can probably manage, since I love cinnamon.

Anti-inflammatory foods, oils, spices are a great thing to purposely include. Look up some Thai/Indian dishes. Remove the delivery method (rice, sticky rice) and any non-primal aspects that bug you. You are left with anti-inflammatory spices, the best beef, pork, chicken, and seafood you can afford. Coconut milk and cream of quality you can afford (organic coconut milk is $0.80 cheaper than not this week by me). Ditch the vegetable oils for something better from a primal aspect. Spicing up with a purpose is easy and to your benefit.

I've been making dried apples with cinnamon and turmeric...REALLY good and good for you. The turmeric would taste odd by itself, but with cinnamon, it's great.
