    CRON diet in the Biosphere

This isn't new news, but it was new to me. Fascinating.

Alan Alda interviewed Wolford for Scientific American's "Frontiers" as he was preparing a BAS and the poor guy looked like he could barely wield the knife. He also looked (or really acted) about ten years older than his actual age. My impression anyway.

The CRON diet apparently works as advertised but the question is "so what?"

Yep -- I definitely want to look like a bony and starving old lady!

Who would recommend a diet that made everybody grumpy and starving the entire time? Also, lower cholesterol isn't necessarily healthy. VERY low cholesterol levels correspond with higher mortality...

Also, being a web developer, the first thing I thought when I read this post title was if it was possible to schedule a cron job to automatically make me a steak. I bet they could do that in Star Trek... I'm waiting for the day we have real-life replicators, where you could get something with the nutrient profile of grass-fed beef but the flavor and texture of chocolate cake.

I feel bad now, if Wikipedia is to be believed he died of ALS in '04, that interview was filmed a couple of years prior. In light of that he actually looks pretty good. Made it to 79 w/ Lou Gehrig's Disease, he was doing something right.

What was that movie called? I had no idea Kylie Minogue had a part in it. May need to see if it is on instant NefFlix.
Trying a journal. We'll see how long that lasts....
