    Jams/jellies suck, they're loaded with sugar. There might be some more gentle alternative, but I do not know of it, and I do not care to know of it.

    Gluten-free bread products are a scam, as I understand, because they replace one starch for another, slap a gluten-free label on it, and the consumer still dies.

    If you're trying gluten free go the extra step and try full primal/paleo for a single month, you will not regret it.

    Instead of jam or jelly, try natural (no sugar added) applesauce. Or, better, get the grapes or raspberries or blackberries that you would otherwise have in the jam/jelly, crush or puree the fruit, and make that your spread. Mmm, fresh blackberries!

    As for gluten-free bread...meh. I would suggest that if you're going to have any bread at all (and once you get used to not having bread, it becomes very easy to Just Say No), maybe do Ezekiel. It's got gluten, but it's sprouted grains, so your body processes it differently. From what I've read elsewhere on this forum, Ezekiel bread isn't as lousy for you as regular wheat flour breads. Still not great, but can be part of your 20%, like tradawg said.

    Good article, dado. For the life of me, I don't get the gluten-free craze. You can't have gluten-free cupcakes and still believe you're eating a healthy food.

    I admit I tried a couple of gf products two years ago when I had to give up all gluten and dairy and the numerous other foods that I am allergic to ... but I after sampling a few things, I ended up returning unopened packages and throwing out the rest. Granted there are a few things that were fairly tasty ... bottom line though, it is still processed food and it is a fracking crutch.
    Basically it is nothing more than trading one addiction for another.
    Everything's shiny, Cap'n. Not to fret.
