It's 1pm and I just threw a whole broiler chicken, with half a chopped onion, into my crockpot. The whole thing, no mess, just giblets removed - I didn't even remove the neck or skin as I usually do. Gave it a nice rub of paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, basil, oregano, and just the tiniest dash of kosher salt and threw it in. 5 hours from now I am going to have an amazing chicken dinner that I can turn into soup a few days from now.
This is pretty awesome.
Anyone else got any good crockpot recipes?

Also, from the site I got the recipie for I have this quote:
"Q. Did you peel off all the skin off that bird by your self?
A. Yes, I did. I have an aversion to fat. Not all fat, mind you, just fat that I know about. I'll eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's no problem---but the thought of my chicken simmering all day long in it's own fat is enough to send me overboard."
Gotta love that good old conventional wisdom.
