DIY Halloween Costume Ideas? page

Are you dressing up for halloween this year? kids want to go trick-or-treating, and i have a kids' party to attend with the wee ones. most years i'm lame and don't dress up, but i'd like to this year. any ideas? first on my list would be a gypsy, though maybe that's unPC. next on my list would be maybe Danu (Irish goddess). what are YOU going to dress up as? do you have any ideas for me?

I am such a geek, I like puns.. one year I pinned smarties (pre-primal) to my pants and went as a smarty pants. There were several more.. my students thought it was funny.

I probably wont dress up this year, but I always like seeing pics of others in their costumes. There were some pretty good ones last year, but unfortunately for me the only one I can remember is Rivvin's.

He dressed up as Sheriff Dangle from Reno 911. All I can remember is Rivvin's hairy legs (not a pleasant memory.)

Verrrry cute. Another is the bovine with a halo (Holy Cow).

My DH once went to a Halloween party dressed in a gray turtleneck, slacks and hat with a sign that said "...What the cows did on the Ponderosa" -- the answer??? Graze (get it, gray-s)

Several years ago, I made a simple tunic-dress out of a blue sheet, fabric-painted "BOO" all over it and wore little red horns -- Devil with the 'Boo' Dress On!

Also saw a neat idea on SoMuchPun.com -- a partner costume. One person wears a sign-board (front and back, like the cartoon "Eat at Joe's" signs) that says "THE END IS NEAR!". The other partner wears one that says "THE END". Thought that'd be good for a laugh!

I've been making mine and my husband's costumes. Bought liquid latex, clay etc heh.
I'm going as a demented doll and he's going as a VERY non-PC white devil...sigh. His costume isn't racist or anything. He's just going to be painted white w/ horns and such. Just one of those things where people will think to themselves something like "Oh I've never seen a white devil before." then they'll think about what they just thought/said and laugh :P

You can do a lot of stuff with just regular makeup if you have a good bit of it. There are a lot of really great youtube videos w/ makeup tutorials.
If you want to go with something more pretty and a simple look (not that it's simple to do lol), I highly recommend visiting this lovely lady's channel.
