Slightly Off Topic: Old Sore Throat

I have an annoying throat pain that doesn't go away. I got it from a cold I got 3 years ago!, and the throat pain never left. It flucutuates between more annoying and less annoying. I have checked myself for HIV and other stuff and it's all negative. SInce I am eating primal, it has diminished, only surfacing when drinking, smoking, it's cold, or I talk too much. I want to get rid of it definitely. Do you have any tips what could be good for this?

Perhaps it is brought on by inflammation? That may explain why it comes back when you drink/smoke...

Perhaps some omega three fish oil pills, and some vit D? Though to be honest, that is very strange, for it to stay that long. Just look around the forums, there's a lot of information on how to reduce inflammation around here.

I have it, too. Happened when I moved to The Mold State, Washington.

I would suggest having your thyroid checked. My throat hurt like crazy, and the doctors kept saying that I had a mild flu or allergy that was causing it....but it turned out that my thyroid was inflamed. Unfortunately, I now must take meds for life...but no more sore throat!

Sore, irritated throat can be from post-nasal drip and allergies are a common cause. You may not even notice it happening, but I know some foods(spicy foods, dairy, and other inflammatory foods) and environmental factors, such as smoke, perfumes, pollen, etc., can trigger it. Some people say dairy and nightshades cause PND for them; my allergies and PND got so bad this year that I now take Zyrtec once a day, which has helped immensely. Cold air still irritates it, but it doesn't last all day since the zyrtec. Hate taking the pill every day, but it's nice to be able to breathe and not go through 6000 tissues an hour.

I agree with the above - most likely post nasal drip caused by allergies, however also could be reflux or thyroid issues.
