So I came across this story on the ESPN Body Issue. It is apparently an issue entirely made up of the naked bodies of athletes - but with the sexual body parts strategically covered.

ESPN 'Body Issue' PHOTOS 2011: Naked Athletes Hope Solo, Blake Griffin, Gretchen Bleiler & More

I have to admit I was shocked to see how thin and ripped these people are! I know that they are professional athletes, but I always thought that low body fat level was reserved for body-builders and female movie stars. But these people are seriously ripped.

It sort of makes me realize that perhaps I am being a little to easy on myself when it comes to my body. Not that I need to look like these people to be happy, but from looking at these photos I can CLEARLY use to start working out

heh, there's nothing like staring at the naked bodies of people who workout for a living to gain a little humility, eh?

    LOL -ain't that the truth

I actually found a link with more photos - a little bit better spectrum of body fats on these - still some pretty stunning bodies though! I see sprints in my very near future. And maybe a trip to the gym.....maybe....

I have to say, the pics actually make me feel better about my body--I've always had huge legs and hate them, but most of the athletes do too. So I am not not inadequate! *sigh of relief* lol

I hate gals who have more veins and abs than me. Too low body fat on a woman puts me off, that's just my personal preference.

I agree, they look great, but it's also worth noting that people who get into professional sports generally also have good genes (i.e. genetics suitable for their sport, whatever that is). In other words, the reason they are able to do well in their sports is maybe also part of the reason why they look good naked.

A good example of this is Marit Bjørgen:

    .

She did not train to look like a bodybuilder. She trained to become a great cross-country skier. However, her genetics make it so that her muscles are also very visible. In some pictures she even looks like she has more muscles than her male "equivalent", Petter Northug:

Northug is a faster skier, but Bjørgen looks stronger (i.e. muscles are more defined). I'm not sure about their BF%, but I'd assume they are about the same.
    Norak's Primal Journal:
    2010-07-23: ~255lbs, ~40.0"
    2011-11-03: ~230lbs, ~35.5"
    2011-12-07: ~220lbs, ~34.0"

Bad pic of Solo, and the Tim Howard one was a little too pornographic for me. Needed a better photographer I think...
