I don't know that I'll have much choice during the winter. I think my brooks will become regular wear during winter, with my V's turning into my gym shoes. *Note to self: request V's for Christmas and Mother's Day!*
Sounds like your form needs some tweaking. If your knees or calves are hurts you're not hitting the ground correctly.it may very well be the way my foot strikes the ground between the gaits
Showed a runner friend where my knee was bothering me & she suggested that it's my ACL. She also suggested I run in the shoes that don't make me hurt. VFFs win. I'm taking off through the weekend so I'm going in on fresh legs.
I'm 100% positive my walking form needs tweaking, but I think my running form is okay. I do know I over pronate, but I'm constantly focused on the way I land on my foot and turn over.
The pain goes down through the side of my knee to the top of my calf, then cuts across my shin
If there are XCL issues or concerns, stretch more and make triple sure that you are doing balancing exercises.
I sprained my mcl and lcl, and the the PT was months of stretching and balancing exercises.
I'm usually pretty good about stretching, but I will be sure to do every stretch I know twice before racing on Saturday!
Although, I should probably start doing it more afterwards, too. I don't normally stretch afterwards, unless I'm in my Vs. Then I do horse riding exercises like standing on the edge of a curb/stair and shoving my heels down as deep and as low as they'll go. Great calf stretch!
