yeah. i've made so many boundaries with them. First, containing the amount of time that I spend. Moving to NZ helped a lot. Skyping -- DH does it as often as he wants, I do it when/if I want during a given session.

they are coming here for christmas for 3 weeks. I am trying to figure out how to contain the time spent with them. I'm thinking that I"ll book them into the hostel down town, to give us enough space.

I plan on booking myself for work for the third week that they are here, because I need to get back to work. Can't take off three weeks for their nonsense.

Booking them into town, it means we can mosey downtown when we are ready, and we can mosey back home early, and leave them on their own for HOURS and HOURS.

The 'vacation' portion -- the middle week -- my original idea was a camper van, but that would be stupid as stupid is. all of us in a tin can for 7 days? no. no no nononononononono.

So, hostels. and trying not to drive too much. and also having breaks. god help me.

i went 2 places who should have had guaranteed supplies of beetle traps but both were out, which leads me to believe the beetles are taking over the entire state

so i see all the sprays and powders til suddenly what doth mine eyes see but diatomaceous earth with a print off taped beneath it that read 'YES... this will kill japanese beetles'. it will also kill everything else under god's green earth up to and including fleas AND ticks AND internal parasites

so i thought.. sounds good....

i buy it, i try it, i dust it on leaves only as i like bees and butterflies etc

i check the situation out an hour or so later AND THERE ARE DEAD BEETLES I DIDN'T KILL

so coo', man.. so coo'.

then, to be sure, i put beetles who landed on clean leaves in the dust and watched them die

i am now a firm believer. also i'm sadistic. but i don't see how people can drink that stuff cause i inhaled a bit piddling around with beetle catching and it made my throat scratchy for a while

also, fevery, stuffy, sniffly, sneezey & my back is not happy at all. how many different times am i supposed to apologize about eating floury foods, body?
