    Six years ago today ...

    Primal Blueprint Expert Certification
On this date in 2005, a gifted team of doctors cut me open like a side of grass-fed beef, and repaired 4 blockages surrounding my heart. I was Very fortunate in that I never actually suffered a heart attack. As a result, my heart muscle is undamaged.

What started out as a perceived case of heartburn on the morning of September 15, 2005 culminated on the table the next day on the operating room. I am extremely thankful that the little voice in my head told me to get to the hospital and get checked out. After a battery of tests on the 15th, I was about to be released until the cardiologist ordered and echo stress test ... and thank God that she did!

Long story short, bypass surgery is the best thing to ever happen to me from a health standpoint as it forced me to look at things in a different light. It also forced me to quit smoking, as well as the importance of exercise through the cardiac rehab program provided at the local hospital.

Of course, after a year or so, I got back into some of my old, sedentary habits, but smoking was NOT one of them! Fast forward until August 22 of this year when I discovered the Primal lifestyle. Right now, I feel and look better than I have in a very long time, and I could not be more grateful!!

    Thanks, Mark!

May we all continue to Grok on!!

Oh, and I almost forgot. Wanna venture a guess as to how I am going to celebrate? well, I began this morning with a 4-egg omelette and 3 slices of bacon. And in about 90 minutes, I plan on being at the local golf links for a pleasurable 18-hole walk with my clubs across my back. After that, if I can still walk, I plan on running up Burger King Hill 6 times ... one for every year since my surgery.

I'll let you know how I do. :-)

Thanks, guys!!! I've finished my 18 holes of golf. According to RunKeeper, I walked 4.25 miles, and burned 766 calories.
The Burger King Hill run will have to wait until later this afternoon as I am sitting with a sick grandson this afternoon. Another ear infection, damn it.

But other than him being sick, it's been great day so far!
