    Hi,


    I've been looking through all the recipies (some look real nice) but my health condition drastically reduces my physical and mental ability so most days I will not be making some tastey primal food, just the bland stuff which i'm sure I will get used too.


    Am I right in thinking primal would be something like:


    Breakfast - Eggs/veg/olive oil

    Dinner - Tuna/veg/olive oil

    Tea - Chicken/veg/olive oil

    Snacks - nuts/seeds


    I'm saying olive oil at each meal for a fat source, but I could also get some coconut oil. I would use different veg, and different meats/fish as much as I could.


    Is that about it? or am I missing any big parts of primal eating?

    Sounds great, but you need more saturated animal fats. Like pork, steak, etc. Other good fats are lard and butter.

    yeah definitely put some butter on your vegs, or saute them in bacon grease or something... eat some red meat once in a while. I agree with Raphael.

    Eating lots but still hungry? Eat more fat. Mid-day sluggishness? Eat more fat. Feeling depressed or irritable? Eat more fat. People think you've developed an eating disorder? Eat more fat... in front of them.

    To repeat what others have said, get rid of the vegetable oil. Coconut oil, butter, grass fed lard, and olive oil as a last resort. Are you trying to lose weight? You can still have green veggies, onions, garlic, mushrooms, summer squash, cabbage, lettuce, Brussels sprouts, and add some turnips and beets, maybe some carrots. Nothing yummier than root veggies tossed in butter, salt & pepper, and roasted for 45 mins. If your weight isn&#39;t an issue, add at least one fruit a day, such as an apple or some berries. Primal eating definitely does not need to be boring, and cooking is not complicated.

    Sharonll, olive oil is actually very healthy. It&#39;s not like other vegetable oils like soy, canola, corn, etc. I put extra virgin OL in literally everything!

    Olive oil is especially healthy if you&#39;re of Mediterranean origin and have ancestors who&#39;ve used it for a long time. For those of us of Northern European ancestry, it&#39;s a very new fat.

    I&#39;m pretty concerned about fatty acid ratios, so I reserve olive oil for salad dressing only. Its omega 6:3 ratio is 10:1, making it better than most vegetable oils, but still not wonderful.


    Butter, lard, bacon grease, etc. are better choices with respect to omega ratios, even if they&#39;re sourced from grain-fed animals.
