Skinny Fat No More PB Journal

    Primal Fuel
I'm a 37yo F who has always been skinny with very little muscle.
I'm noticing that I'm getting flabby as I age.
Previously, my diet was 100% carb based primarily grains, flour, and sugar.
I am a sugar addict... Once I ingest the first bite of sweets... All bets are off.
It's a slippery slope always leading to the same place- a binge and subsequent food coma. I have had cancer, endometriosis I believe as a direct result of my diet.
I came to PB thru practice of IF. I started PB this week and I'm awaiting Marks books.
    Height: 5'7.5"
    Weight: 122 lbs
    Body Fat: 19%
    Frame: small

    Saturday 9/10/11:

    BF-
    IF
    Black tea with milk
Coffee with cream and stevia x2

    Lunch-
Rotassaire chicken with skin - palm size
    Harvest Pumpkin soup
    Smoked Salmon and cream cheese
    Romaine lettuce
    Cabbage
    Roasted mushrooms
    Tuna with mayo

    Snack-
    Raspberries - 4
    Strawberries- 6
    Whipped Cream
    Black & Green 85% chocolate - 2 squares
Decaf coffee with cream and stevia x1

    Exer: walking dog 20 min

I hope to lose fat/ maybe 5lbs and gain muscle and energy.

Welcome Jenna. Glad you found us. Your lunch sounds yummy!
    Ancestral Health Info

I design websites and blogs for a living. If you would like a blog or website designed by someone who understands Primal, see my web page.

Primal Blueprint Explorer My blog for people who are not into the Grok thing. Since starting the blog, I have moved close to being Archevore instead of Primal. But Mark's Daily Apple is still the best source of information about living an ancestral lifestyle.

Thank you Hedonist for the warm welcome!

I stuck to primal blueprint all last week.
I sprinted 2 days. No weights yet as I have no energy.
I tracked my meals on loseit app.
    Calories: 1500-1900/day
    Fat: 80-100
    Protein: 50-80
    Carbs: 70-100
I did consume the 20% daily in 85% chocolate, strawberries, whipped cream, & almond butter.
I gained weight around my middle and thighs. Also, I was severe abdominal bloating.
    Up to 123 lbs.

Going to try Eades 6 week cure to see if it kick starts more fat loss.

Jenna - stick to PB, it'll work wonders for you over time, I'm sure. It takes time for most carb junkies to realign to the PB diet and lifestyle. I felt like crap when I first started and only realised to benefits of the diet after a few weeks. Focus on bringing your carbs down a little more, get plenty of good fats and meat/fish and you should find things will start feeling good. Don't forget to get lots of sleep and consider drinking less caffeine and alcohol - these make a big difference to my progress.

    Keep us posted.

Thank you for the encouragement JpGrok. I'm going to check out your journal now to pick up some tips.
I don't drink alcohol but eat a lot of berries and dark chocolate late night.
Some digestion issues with constipation/ bloating. Took swiss kriss which started the runs. Not nice.
Also been having leg cramps at night so I started Potassium and Magnesium Citrate.

I eat a lot of dark chocolate too - and random sweets if I'm not careful. Good luck on our journey, we are all here supporting you!

Jenna/nowakow2, I think the cravings are all part of the reset process - your body is used to fuelling itself with glucose, not by burning fat stores, so it tells you to eat more glucose (carbs) which often come in the form of night-time cravings. I think the key is to eat bigger meals with more fat to satiate you. Then, try not to snack until breakfast so your body can utilise the fat stores for energy. From the research I've done, this process can take 4-6 weeks so stick with it and try not to eat too many carbs.

Re constipation/bloating, the magnesium citrate should help. I take about 600 mg most evenings for its calming affect and I am very regular - in fact more so now than I was eating lots of "healthy" whole grain fiber.

Keep up the good work and thanks for dropping by my journal. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Signing in again after 2 years! I have dabbled in low carb (Dukan, Atkins, and Ketosis) over the past 2 years and gained 10 lbs. I am now at 132 lbs and it's fat not muscle because my exercise is pretty nil other than the fact that I work on my feet.
This is the highest weight I have been since my beer drinking/ late night binging days in college.

I am going to journal to hopefully help me stay on track with this WOE.

Goal ~ 120lbs and decrease fat. Start regularly exercising (weights/ bike/ running).

I had a lot of carbs this past weekend (french fries, potato chips, popcorn, ice cream, rice cakes, bananas).

I kicked off this week for the Bulletproof Rapid Fat Loss Protocol. Talking Betaine HCL with each meal.

    Monday 8/5/13:

    BF-
    Coffee
    MCT oil ~ 1tbsp
    Kerrygold butter ~ 1tbsp

    Lunch-
    Coffee
    Coconut oil ~ 1tsp
    Kerrygold butter ~ 1tsp

    Snack-
    Coffee
    Coconut oil ~ 1tsp
    Kerrygold butter ~ 1tsp

    Dinner-
    Vegtable Bouillon ~ 1/8 cube
    Kerrygold butter ~ 1 tbsp

    Exer: walking 60 min

Down to 129 today ~ releasing water. Was not hungry yesterday during the day but was famished after mindnight and subsequently had a difficult time falling asleep.

    Tuesday 8/6/13:

    BF-
    Coffee
    MCT oil ~ 1tbsp
    Kerrygold butter ~ 1tbsp

    Lunch-
    Vegtable Bouillon ~ 3/4 cube
    Kerrygold butter ~ 1 tsp
    Coffee
    Coconut oil ~ 1tsp
    Kerrygold butter ~ 1tsp

Aborted Bulletproof fat loss protocol secondary to poor sleep and various opinions suggesting it did not work.

    Dinner-
Salad with feta and 2 eggs and 1 tbsp olive oil

    Snack-
Deli Ham 3oz and american cheese 3oz
    Vitamin Water Zero

    Exer: walking 60 min
