Ultra runner here as well who just started the challenge for the 2nd time.
I ran a 50k last weekend and was introduced to watermelon dipped in salt. I was bonking hard at the time and this stuff perked me right up. It was all I ate at every aid station and it got me through in excellent shape. Even felt good enough for a 7-miler then next morning.
I hope to be 100% primal leading up to my next 50k in a month.
Makes sense to combine salts with liquids, and watermelon is mostly liquid.
