    Cool Random ramblings of a desert racer

    My name is John and I'm a carbaholic......(Hi John yells the crowd)

    I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes around 2004, and my awesome doctor [eyeroll] says "here take these pills, go to this nutrition class, and eat better." I go to the nutrition class and learn all about how I should be eating whole grains instead of white, and oatmeal cause that's good for diabetics, and lean meat, and lots of fruit and vegetables.

    Fast forward 7 years.... I've gained 30 pounds, my meds have increased to where I'm taking 5 pills for diabetes, blood pressure, and gerd, still eating all this whole grain shit that doesn't even taste that good, but it's what the awesome doctor and nutritionist [laughter] has told me to do.

    Fuck this, I'm sick of taking all these pills everyday, I feel like shit and I'm disgusted to look at myself in the mirror.

    July 25th I decided to do Atkins again (I did it for a few months while in the Marine Corps and it worked for me to lose weight). So started to read about Atkins on myfitnesspal forums and was amazed to read that the results people were having with their A1C, blood pressure, migraines, IBS.... I was so excited I went to the grocery store and bought 2 lbs of bacon and a big juicy ribeye...lol

    So July 25th I started, read a lot more about Atkins, South Beach, Primal, Paleo, everything I could read low carb. I decided to try and keep my carbs around 25g a day. Between July 25th and August 25th I lost 11 lbs, my pants fit better and my fasting blood glucose has gone from an average of 150ish to about 90ish!!

    I just ordered Mark's book and am looking forward to the challenge and possibillity to win prizes and stuff, but most importantly get healthy to live a long life with my beautiful wife and wonderful kids.

    Went to the doctor today... I got my results back from my recent lab. My lab draw was on Aug 31st 1 month and 6 days after starting low carb.
